hey guys,
I'm not sure if this thread is in the right place, but I figured this is better than nothing. my problem btw has nothing to do with the cold:
no, instead, I'm having some computer problems: I have two accounts: a primary one, where I do everything, and a secondary one, where I am as I write this. the reason I'm not using the primary account is that, simply put, it keeps freezing. it usually-though not always-happens as Firefox loads up (it does so automatically, dunno why, though likely related to the CSU safe connect process). the secondary one does not freeze at all. yes, both are on the same computer. the freezing mind you, is so complete and paralytic, that I cannot maneuver the cursor at all, ctrl+alt+del does not work, in fact, nothing by the shut-down button
as you can probably tell, it is likely (though not impossible) not a hardware problem, nor is it strictly a windows 7 problem, otherwise I wouldn't be typing this, which leaves me with a few options:
1-a virus (one undetected somehow).
2-some sort of programming conflict in the background, that does not exist in my secondary account
3-my settings on the primary account were somehow jacked up.
4-anything else that might come to mind, but hasn't yet.
I've already found two viruses-both seem Java related-and they were successfully removed. but the freezing has continues nonetheless-even after reinstalling Java. I also ruled out the antiviruses being the direct cause in and of themselves: I have two, one that does nothing (so I can get online at CSU; long and dumb story), and the working one (which is quite powerful, and has yet to fail me).
so the question is: does this look familiar to anyone? or alternately, can anyone perceive a solution?
in case this may be pertinant: ASUS i7 (6GB ram IIRC), Windows 7 SP1, ATI raedon card, ATK audio,
PS: both are administrator accounts, so I have full access to everything from my second account. it was created for just such an emergency.
