Hello ;)

Despite my barbaric heritage I've had a reluctance to destroy things, especially unique sites and buildings.

But then my Sweboz forces conqured Thermon and nearby was this hill with a weed-smoking loonatic inside that just seemed to piss everyone off. So I'm considering digging a hole and tossing the "Oracle" as they called themself in it and filling it up with the hill in question.... yes I plan on digging quite a deep hole...

Eh, in all seriousness I couldn't find anything on this unique site on the forum that covered this, regardless of what search I did.

The issue being that the Oracle in Delphi gives me the whopping boon of a -20% happyness to add to my order total.

Is that because I'm playing a faction of barbarian culture and is thus set to such so that I should level it to the ground?

One of the reasons I have not destroyed sites such as this despite the negative impact of a building with foreign culture, even if it's been useless to me, is that I didn't want the easy cash and I sort of like having them around, it sort of adds flavour to the different parts of my realm.

Was there any deep thought behind this negative happiness?
What impact does it have on other cultures? I sort of assume it's all positive for the greeks, but then again I could be wrong in that regard...

I seem to recall that holding the Oracle under the Romans (who have their own culture in EB) gave a positive effect for happiness. But for all their Greek bashing, the Romans were increasingly hellenised throughout our time period, so you can imagine that the Greeks under Roman rule wouldn't mind much.

The barbarian culture (as celts rather than germans) did actually sack Delphi just before the start of the EB time period, and the Greeks naturally made a big deal of this in their writings. The Delphic oracle had previously been extremely important in guiding and uniting Greek states culturally. At least in myth and the kind of 'just so' history that was popular amongst ancient writers.
As such, you can reasonably expect an oracle (an elderly priestess by the way) under barbarian rule to be screaming hate and dire warnings about the anger of the gods. If you want to stay in the area, end the oracle and tell tales in your halls about a monstrous woman who cast spells from her cave. If it's just a raid, leave the oracle alone (it has already been sacked) and plunder the temples.

Ahh, well... not much to do about it then, I really need the order back, I just can't get the people under control as long as the witch remains, despite a sizeable army and a decent govenor...
And no it's not a raid... it was the third city left in Europe not under my command. (The others being Sparta and Corinth) I was a bit miffed that AS decided to...try...and invade Europe...eh..I mean Germany this round. I liked the peace for now...as I hadn't quite finished subduing Bysantine to carry on into Mikra Asia yet :P

Thanks for the info ;)

BURN IT TO THE GROUND!

seriously, if real Sweboz warlord visit that oracle, he'll just stratch his head and simply order that mad old priests to be killed quickly
