Hi, I've hit a bit of a problem in a mod I'm developing. I'm using the Barbarian culture to represent several racial types, namely Celts, Native American's and African Zulu types. No big problem till you hit the Portraits in the UI folder. Obviously a proud Nubian Zulu looks a tad different from a Caledonian Clansman. I was wondering if either Barbarian buildings can be alocated to another culture, or there was a way of converting one culture to another type. Eg have two or more Barbarian cultures. Or can Ui portraits be texted for seperate factions.
The obvious solution is to have genereic UI pictures, that are non-portraits, a symbol, crossed swords for the general, a scroll for the diplomat etc. But it would be better if it could be done with a complete culture change, that would also include the interface.

Cheers

I am not a modder myself, but according to the Europa Barbarorum team it's not possible to increase the number of cultures or to make UI elements faction-specific. I am afraid you are going to have to go with the generic UI pictures.

Hi, thanks for the reply, I wasn't thinking of increasing the number of cultures, but rather, converting say the Eastern culture to barbarian and maintaining the same number of factions. changing eastern buildings to barbarian basicly and re-doing the interface and Ui portraits to what's apt. I'm looking for a Tutorial maybe, about that and having difficulty hunting same down. I know there was something about where threre were two Roman factions.
I'll have a quick hunt round the Tutorials to see if i can find anything. I'll probably leave it till tommorow on reflection, I'm disabled with a hip complaint, that's at condition red at the moment. So modding is on hold till that decides that the cocodamol has the upper hand. A day or two on the orthopeadic bed with the Snooker on Tv awaits. A pity I was really getting into this particular Mod.

Thanks Again

Oh, I see. Yes, that is very well possible. Check out the scriptorium (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/forumdisplay.php?77-Scriptorium): there are at least two tutorials dealing with culture.

Just to clarify - you CAN add ONE new culture (and all elements thereof). See my tutorial in the Scriptorium at https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?55112-Complete-Guide-To-Creating-New-Cultures-in-BI

Hi, thanks, I downloaded that a day or so ago, it's for BI and at the moment I'm working in RTW, but it looks like it will work for that as well. Shifting say Carthage to the barbarian buildings etc. So my Zulus and Ashanti will have thier own graphics etc, good egg indeed.

Thanks again apreciated
