Does the campaign script get automatically shut down when I load a new game, or do I need to shut it down manually? In RTR there's a button to shut it down, but I don't know of a button to shut it down in EB. At any rate, I get the red buildings quite often, which I suspect is being caused by the campaign script, so if anyone has any suggestions....

Thanks.

AFAIK it's impossible to shut down the EB script (except by quitting the game) so I'd like to know the answer as well. It's definitely not recommended to "switch factions" by loading another campaign.

It going to the main menu enough to shut down the script, or do you need to quit the game entirely? Also, will it confuse the script if you load a save-game from the same campaign but a few years previously?

Moving thread to the EB tech-help forum.

I may be wrong but this is what I remember.. To shut down the script you unfortunately have to quit the game. You can load a save-game from the same campaign and even start a new campaign using the same faction.

The EBBS (aka campaign-script) cannot be shut down during a session of RTW, one has to restart the game. The EBBS 'remembers' the faction the player has chooses and it will remember it until a new session has been started (especially the gov-type scripts get really messed up).
These points lead to 2 important rules (which The King already wrote down a little differently):
1. It is not possible to play with two different factions in the same EB session, one has to restart the game.
2. It is safe to load a different campaign with the same faction, no restart required.

Do you think this should get into the FAQ, Ludens?

The red buildings are 'destroyed' gov-buildings from other factions, although the RTW engine doesn't has the capability to really destroy buildings, a 99% damaged building is as close as mods can get.
Gameplay wise, destroy every gov-building in a newly conquered town, even your own old ones.

I'd say yes, but thanks for answering either way.

Q: I loaded a game in EB and all of my Government buildings have been destroyed (all red). What happened?
A: If you start a campaign with faction 'A', activate the script and then quit to the main menu and reload a previous save game of a faction other than faction 'A', your government buildings will be damaged as soon as you activate the script again. This is hardcoded into RTW, and there's nothing we can do to fix it. You can avoid the "bug" by shutting down RTW completely and restarting if you want to play a different save game with a different faction (reloading save games from your current campaign is not a problem).

After re-reading the FAQ I found already existing in section III - Bugs.

Thanks for the help, guys. RTR has a way to shut down the script. I wonder if the same thing could be added to EB? I'm a developer, and my guess is the shut down would just take a few lines of code, but I really have no idea as I know nothing of this game engine or scripting language.

There would be little profit in doing so, EB without EBBS doesn't work as intended by the team, and the only technical reason for this would be errors in the script (of which only one minor exists today) but even this can be solved by not-activating the script after loading a savegame.

Ah, it's been so long since I last read the FAQ...
