Lynch pizzza and be done with it... the whole Chaotix-Landlubber saga has Pizza all over it!
He is a free spirit and another one is probably Zack
I keep trying but Lazy says I can't do that without a mafia role PM.
I tried to bypass that by telling him I was a serial killer but he didn't believe me, said "I would know if I made you a serial killer, I designed the game and sent the roles out."
Once again, red tape from an unelected bureaucrat game host stands in the way of true justice.
Lynching is the traditional means, but I like your out of the box thinking!

You're right, atheotes. However, no one will listen to you and I'll win the game.

There, we have the confession! lynch him!
If you strike me down I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine.
I'll turn into sort of a glowing hologram of my former self, incapable of holding a weapon, and I'll just sit on rocks and tell you about your family, which I neglected to reveal the full story about when I was still alive. I was planning on getting around to it but I'm old and the brain just doesn't work the way it used to. Oh yeah and Darth Vader didn't kill your father; funny story, actually....

DAY FIVE
Much of the day was spent arguing about why any of the Tribe should wish to leave their territory. The same instigators of the call to leave kept vociferously piling on the pressure and while they drew some opposition , it was apparent that most of the remaining Tribe members were too addled by hunger and fear to make up their minds with any degree of finality and - as a result - several of the smaller children changed their minds throughout the day. As the day drew to a close the tribe had split into three factions.
The Little 'Uns who had been calling to leave Limbo for several days - Zack and scottishranger, formed one camp. Those who wished to lynch Zack formed the second, citing that his call to leave Limbo smelt like Free-Spirit talk. Finally those who wished to lynch one of Zacks detractors, BSmith, formed the third camp.
Zack and scottishranger were soon shouted down, but the groups wishing to lynch Zack and BSmith found themselves evenly matched. Only Subotan had failed to vote at this point and as they could not find him, the Tribe decided to flip a coin to decide which of the unfortunate pair would be executed.
The dishevelled youngsters gathered in a circle and a silver coin was brought from the Tribes chest of the type of trinkets and baubles which they valued most highly.
Both Zack and BSmith glanced nervously at one another, both desperately hoping that they would prove to be the lucky one and avoid the tribes wrath.
There was a hush and scottishranger flipped the coin high into the air. He caught it deftly and then looked up - a confused and quizzical expression on his face.
'You forgot to call for heads or tails you idiot!' shouted one of the boys and scottishranger was cuffed about the head - the coin taken from him and passed to Seon, who addressed BSmith.
'Heads or Tails?'
BSmith held Seons' gaze, trying not to let any fear show.
'Heads'
Seon flipped the coin up and caught it, the children hustled around as the child pulled his hand away from the coin to reveal....
'Heads!' BSmith breathed a deep sigh of relief but then visibly sagged as he realised that it was now his duty to bring an end to Zack.
Zack quivered with fear, his face white and as BSmith lifted the Hogknocker onto his broad shoulder he screamed at the assembled children to let him go and that he only wanted to escape this horrible place.
BSmith shook his head and silently brought the club up in a slow arc over his head before crashing it down onto Zack.
The tiny boy's head was crushed like a tomato under the heel of a hobnailed boot.- his miserable existence extinguished in an instant.
At that moment Subotan rushed into the circle. 'I vote BSmith!' he shouted and then clamped his hand to his mouth as he saw the remains of Zack. The rest of the tribe looked sourly at Subotan for his tardiness, but all were far too shaken by the latest execution and no move was made to punish him.

Well, let's see. So all these guys are Little 'Uns: Zack and scottishranger (per write-up), ATPG and Seon and Visorslash (per vote strength). BSmith is a Big 'Un. We don't really have anything on Subotan.
Can somebody kill Zack already? His shoddy logic is getting annoying.
You have the gall to call my logic shoddy after you proclaimed the goal of the mafia was to swoop into the town, then leave as soon as possible (and by the lynch, no less)?? Really?
Anyways, you can see I was a little 'un from the update.
Free Spirits appear to be in Little 'Un form, from what I understand, so that's not much of a cover.

NIGHT FIVE
Hunger and fear loomed over the ragged remains of the Tribe like spectral vultures, and the restlessness and desperation was palpable amongst the children around the glowing embers of the fire, as BSmith and Neri finshed disposing of Zacks remains.
It was clear to those remaining loyal to the Tribe that there were too few of them now to guard their territory effectively: Too few of them to guard the perimeter against the dangers of the forests of Limbo, let alone the threat from within. None wished to leave the security of the fire, nor wished to split up - lest they should be next to be murdered and discussion soon turned to moving to the Fortress. The sun had set, and it was decided that if the Tribe had to move they should do so immediately. Staves of wood with oil soaked rags wrapped about them were distributed, clumsily lit, and a miserable procession made their way from the camp out of the Eastern gate, silently toward the den that formed the Tribes most defensible position - their last resort.
The Tribe used only the entrance hall to the subterranean labyrinth as their second basecamp. None of them knew - or cared to know - what lay deeper into the tunnels of the vast network of concrete bunkers, but the sounds of machinery - some eternal automotive systems - could be faintly heard from the metal gangways that lined the walls of the entrance hall like a balcony..
Exhausted, each member of the Tribe - casting wary glances at those about them - collapsed to their rest in the nooks and crannies which best offered some semblance of shelter and they were soon all asleep.
Seon woke abruptly. His senses jangling together as his consciousness coalesced, and a chill fear gripped him as he realised he was no longer at the spot he had laid down his head.
He had been moved.
A faint glow illuminated the dark. The ground below him was metallic - not the chill concrete that he had been sleeping on, but a warmth pervaded the hard shiny surface and he felt it through his palms as he pushed himself up quickly into a low crouch.
As his eyes grew accustomed to the gloom, he made out the boxes and pipework that signified the industrial nature of the complex around him - though what industry had ever produced anything of worth in this unholy place, Seon could not fathom.
He made a tentative move toward the spot where the faint light seemed to emanate from - perhaps an illumination from one of the electrical control panels that was still active, but as he drew slowly closer, Seon realised that he was not alone. A figure stood beside the control box. A soft neon glow cutting its silhouette out of the blackness - highlighted an arm outstretched, the figures hand was resting on a lever. The figure was facing Seon and the small boy instantly understood his peril, his mouth stretched open to scream as the figure pressed the lever down.
Seons vision exploded into white and his small body burst into blue flame as it was flung twelve feet into the air with the force of the electric current suddenly released through the flooring beneath it.
The figure quickly ran back to rejoin the other sleeping members of the Tribe, as the burning corpse of Seon was jolted in deathly animation on the metal floor - sparks leaping and fizzing with the smell of burning flesh, casting eerie shadows about the gantries and walkways which led into the unknown.
When the Tribe awoke and found that Seon was missing, they moved as one to search for him - for his remains as most grimly assumed - and when they finally found the chamber and turned the electricity off, the unrecognisable husk that had once been Seon was only identified by one smoking shoe which had been thrown from the electrified floor to the space beside the control panel from which his murderer had committed the deed.
The murderer that still stood among them.

I apologize for defending myself. Next time, when erroneous accusations are libeled against me, I'll just stay silent and let my accusers roll over me.

Either you're a Free Spirit; or, you are seriously, with a straight face, espousing what is quite frankly one of the dumbest theories to ever grace the game of mafia.

I have nothing against you defending yourself, but bringing up a piece of 'evidence' with no bearing on the matter at hand, well after the previous post in the argument, strikes me as a bit over the top. And so I wonder as to your motives for so zealously espousing your case.

As I say, there is precedent in Capo of a similar idea. Every mechanic has to be new once, and I see no reason to assume that this is just a game of plain ol' vanilla mafia.
And so I wonder as to your motives for so zealously espousing your case.

I am a non-Free Spirit little un with no personal goal to leave limbo or I would have voted with Zack already.
I have not been playing close attention to this game and I am not this lazy as a mafioso; I am now working 60 hours a week at my job. Yes, I am copping the RL excuse and I never do that as scum. Sorry, I do care more when I am scum.
My vote is essentially for sale here. I have basically no opinion regarding everyone remaining, and frankly, if you lynch me here I am not going to bat an eye because I didn't do [bleep] this game and winning will be based on luck and bandwagoning someone else's suspect, and that just makes me go bleh on the inside.
As such, point out who is a Free Spirit and why. Don't make me get off my butt and accuse someone. Do what I do and make a case, and make it a good one, and you will have my vote.

Yes, I'm that lazy. That's all its going to take for Visor to win the game unless you people start caring.
Vote: Subotan because you've said as few words as you could possibly, and technically missed the vote two days in a row.
I have to agree with Neri regarding Subotan. Every single vote he has made has been along with a bunch of other people voting for the same person, and he has missed several days as well. He is doing just enough to stay active, but not causing any trouble or making any waves.

DAY SIX
One mouse shared by six children. The hunger they all shared; had now passed through a painful ache, beyond the brink of hope, and had descended toward the burning gates of a ravenous and hallucinatory fever.
Coppery water had been found in a cistern near the entrance to the Fortress, but no-one drank much of it: Stomachs had shrunk so much that even a small sip seemed to bloat their sore bellies, and several of the lost souls spent much of the day simply writhing in pain; on the cold of the concrete floor.
The small child known as Askthepizzaguy claimed he was so hungry he could no longer think, and craved the advice of any Tribes-member who could puzzle their situation out for him -Deciding indeed; which of them still represented a threat to the Tribes' survival.
What remained of them at least.
Accusations were tossed and soon began to stick on to two of the less vocal participants of the small cadre that remained.
Both Neri and Subotan took the accusations with a seemingly stoic humility. Subotan stated that he would have voted for scottishranger, had it not been for the fact that his own life were at stake and plumped for pointing the finger back at Neri instead. Scottishranger - The small boy who had been so bold in demanding that the tribe left Limbo simply lay on the floor - back turned to the assembled - and it was only when Subotan directed his ire toward the youngster that the rest of the tribe saw that something was amiss. Scottishranger lay in a puddle of sweat; incoherently rambling, and the Tribe quickly realised that he was inches away from death due to malnutrition. The life of the small boy was clearly being silently fought over: The boy himself, versus the endless, all-consuming silence of death.
A low grey light, peering through the entrance to the bunker's gate signaled the approach of night, and the end of the day.
VOTING TO KILL:
Neri: Visorslash, Askthepizzaguy, Subotan
Subotan: Neri, BSmith,
An edginess approaching hysteria began to manifest in both Neri and Subotan, both sets of their accusers neither had the stamina for further debate, and as the Tribe rose to their feet as one (except for the feverish scottishranger), Neri and Subotan both found themselves backing away from the grim-faced children, backing toward the doorway that led into the unknown.
A silent cue was apparently triggered and the instant that the accusers started toward their prey; was matched by the second that both Neri and Subotan turned tail and fled from them.
Racing along gangways and platforms within the vast subterranean factory, Subotan and Neri almost appeared to cooperate, their ragged breathing and that of their pursuers, to begin with: The only audible accompaniment of the chase.
As they passed deeper into the complex, the thrum of machinery grew louder: Sparks flew from junction boxes and immense cogs rumbled slowly around the fulcrum of their endless toil. Bursting neck and neck into a large chamber the boys suddenly halted. Immediately before them yawned a wide trench and set into the walls of it were set a series of cruel looking gun barrels.
Sweeping over the trench, passing along steel threads as thick as an arm; ran metallic boxes that emitted shards of white light.
Cornered, the pair turned to face their pursuers, as they rushed into the cavern behind them.
For an instant, time seemed to slow to a sluggish trickle.
As the large form of BSmith ran toward Subotan, and the diminutive pairing of Visorslash and Askthepizzaguy descended apon Neri; the pair began to slap bestially at one another - each desperate to ensure that they were the one who remained alive.
Fate took a long deep breath.. and exhaled:
Time resumed its' common displacement.
As Neri's fist connected with Subotan's chin, the large frame of BSmith drove the stunned child over the edge of the parapet - flailing through the air until he thudded into the trench below.
As the small boy tried to right himself he was caught simultaneously under the glare of two the the spears of light from the tracer boxes above. A soulless whirring noise filled their ears for a second before two of the large gun emplacements kicked into gear and abruptly delivered their deadly ordinance into the killing pit, and into the body of Subotan.
The small boy's frame was fragmented swiftly into fleshy chunks as the bullets rained through him - the echo of the barrage eventually dying away long after Subotan had drawn his final breath.
....
Neri was the first to breath again. His distraught gasp followed by the rest of the Tribe. After some small moments recollecting their composure; the Tribe picked itself up and began the slow, silent march back toward the entrance hall.
As first finger pointer, Neri had been spared the chore of clearing the body of the executed - splattered as it was, across 16 feet of - still - deadly trap.
Once they had returned to the 'Fortress' and ascertained that the skinny form of scottishranger still drew breath, the remaining members of the tribe collapsed, finally, into the starving maw of sleep.

NIGHT SIX
The last member of the Tribe fell into the fitful slumber of Limbo, leaving one soul left lying awake - beathing slow and steady and peering through narrowed eyes into the dark.
Once he was sure all about him were unconscious, the Free Spirit rose stealthily and crept over to the corner in which Askthepizzaguy lay in a feverish sleep.
It was a simple matter of covering the small childs' face for a couple of moments and pressing down hard. Askthepizzaguy didn't even move spasmodically as he suffocated and the figure quickly returned to his own spot, lay down and turned to face the wall, falling almost immediately to a deeper and less troubled sleep than any of the others would manage that night.
When morning came, the handful of survivors mournfully dragged the corpse of Askthepizzaguy back out into the open and deposited him in a shallow grave under the eaves of the fearsome wood.
They gathered in the entrance hall and lit a fire - several of the traps had successfully ensnared some small rodentine creatures and for the first time in days the children ate. It did little to raise their spirits though. The threat to the tribe was still clearly present.

DAY SEVEN
VOTED TO KILL:
Visorslash: BSmith, Neri, Scottishranger
Neri: Visorslash
With a grim look of determination, Visorslash pumped his arms and picked his knees up, as he sprinted along a rusty walkway and under a large concrete archway. Slowing briefly to look behind him, his eyes flashed with anger as he saw BSmith, Neri and scottishranger gain the walkway - still apparently hot on his tail.
Visorslash briefly considered attempting to break the ancient walkway and send them hurtling down to their doom, but quickly assessed that there was not enough time before they cleared the gangway and he was probably not strong enough anyway.
He ran on.
The echo of Visorslash's footsteps rang around the dark hall, accompanied by the ever-increasing deep boom of machinery. As the small boy cornered the space opened up into a cavernous hall - a thin walkway, one handrail limply hanging on to the rusting grill of its base - stretched from the concrete ledge, out into the blackness.
Visorslash paused and looked about him for any possible alternatives. The ledge ended to either side of him at sheer concrete walls, above him, the grinding teeth of vast cogs turning, methodically punctuated the gloom. Beyond the ledge, below the walkway: A dark abyss.
Offered no alternative, Visorslash pressed on. He felt the walkway rattle with each of his light footfalls and he trusted to his balance - staring out into the darkness before him as he ran on - determined not to look down.
A platform loomed up before him, and as Visorslash cleared the walkway onto it, he heard his pursuers enter the cavern behind him and pause as he had... as he was doing now.
The platform was a huge concrete block, rising from the depths. About ten metres square, the platform was bare but for a small control panel and lever, mounted at the far side of it. Next to the panel reared the tooth of a huge cog, the top and bottom of which were hidden in the dark.
Visorslash made a tentative leap, but he could not reach the lip of the cogs tooth. There was no way off the platform except forward on to the cog, or back the way he had come and the pounding feet of his accusers ruled out that possibilty in an instant. With no other options, Visorslash pulled the lever on the control panel and his heart leapt as a huge rumbling rose from the depths, marked by the shrieking of metal and gears as they slowly crawled to life. The cog tooth before him inexorably began to move - thankfully upward - albeit with the slowness of the truly gargantuan. The small boy hopped from foot to foot as the tooth cleared the edge of the platform and the next began to rise into view. As it did so, he realised the other three boys had reached the platform. BSmith ran toward him as he jumped and scrambled atop the gleaming dark metal of the cogs tooth. The three boys shouted at him as he rose quickly up - the cog was accelerating rapidly and he adjusted himself quickly to maintain his footing. Then the angry faces of the boys below, sank out of sight as the cog turned. It seemed they were not desperate enough to chase him further and Visorslash allowed himself a steady breath before turning ahead in readiness for what might appear before him next.
The pitch surface he was wedged into reached the apex of the cog and Visorslash pressed his foot against the flank of the tooth in front of him, staring wide-eyed for any sign of a way onward.
He only saw the huge tooth of the descending cog a second before it pressed itself into the one he was riding. No time to cry out, no time to leap back - no where to go: Visorslash was turned into a thin bloody jam as the massive gear ground down apon him.
Back on the platform the three remaining boys could only guess at Visorslash's fate. They huddled together after their chase and - once they had got their breath back, decided what they should do. First they stopped the cog turning. If Visorslash was the Free Spirit, they reasoned that they could sleep comfortably here - safe in the knowledge that there was no way the cog could be traversed without their hearing it - and that would depend on their being another terminal at the other side to set it in reverse motion.
The boys did not discuss the possibility that Visorslash was not guilty, but the small boy called scottishranger appeared openly fearful and his eyes flicked between the large bulk of BSmith and the smaller frame of Neri - expecting either one of them to leap to their feet and attack him that instant.
Neither did and soon the three boys lay down to sleep.

Being the second person to put on a show means nothing except that you have accomplices, and maybe not even that.

NIGHT SEVEN
Neri had trouble getting to sleep. Even as the other two were curled up and attempting to lose themselves to the temporary escape sleep offered, he couldn't help but blurt out accusations at the other small child, scottishranger. Eventually, exhaustion overtook him and he passed out, mutters and whimpers occasionally spluttering from his lips.
The darkness this deep in the complex, was the same at night as it was during the day. Neri had no idea of the time, but it certainly felt as if hours had passed when he woke with a jump: A shrill cry breaking the silence.
Neri's hand instinctively clamped to his own mouth, in case he had been the source of the shriek, and he jumped to his feet. He struggled to get his bearings and vigorously rubbed the smudge of sleep from his eyes. The huge cog remained stationary above him, and he span around in time to see his last two companions, struggling at the edge of the concrete platform. BSmith had scottishranger's arms pinned and was shuffling his feet while the smaller boy struggled ineffectually.
It was obvious that the larger child would win the battle.
For an instant Neri felt the impulse to charge at the pair and knock them both into the blackness, but his body seemed somehow detached from his mind and he remained an observer to the events as they unfolded.
Shifting his weight, BSmith found some purchase on the dusty floor and shoved the smaller boy as hard as he could - simultaneously releasing scottishranger's arms from his grip.
For a second the Little 'Un hung in the air, his mouth a silent 'O' - eyes wide as saucers staring madly at Neri - and then he plunged from view, the scream only rising after he had disappeared, but it lasted what seemed like an age before ending abruptly far below.
The whole time scottishranger was falling, Neri had kept his eyes trained on BSmith. The big boy turned, once the scream had ended and his eyes flashed at Neri.
'p-please, let me go...' Neri felt himself backing into the control panel, legs moving automatically away from the remaining Free Spirit before him. BSmith said nothing but stared at Neri and slowly moved toward him.
In the blind panic of utter despair, Neri's hearing faded into a cotton wool sludge and he felt himself turn and run. He only got three feet before the ground beneath him ended at the ledge of the concrete platform and he felt his limbs cartwheel into the darkness of Limbo.
BSmith - or 'Player One' as he was known, stood for a moment, looking down into the black. He had lost a good friend, his good buddy 'Player Two' had been an early casualty in their quest to destroy the Lost Tribe, but he felt the elation of having eliminated the threat none the less - and was gladdened by the thought that any Free Spirit who had to suffer the same journey; would be able to do so without the threat of the cursed children of the Lost Tribe.
BSmith turned and ran back the way he had come. This chapter of his ordeal over, and his journey through Limbo could finally continue.

I've enjoyed hosting my first game on the org and hoped you enjoyed playing.
Thanks to all of you for contributing and a special thanks to Askthepizzaguy & General Hankerchief for their invaluable advice on game balance while I was coming up with the game*.
Hope to see you all in another game soon.
*It is entirely possible that I did not correctly balance this game. The numbers of Big 'Uns and Little 'Uns - the number of 'Splitters' were all changed a few times before I started the game. I also ditched a detective role :D But some of the close calls were crazy - BSmith DID narrowly avoid the - seemingly random? - lynch by the flip of a coin, not to mention the close attempts by the splitters - even with only three of them able to win with a successful 'Leave Limbo' result.
Anyway - I would welcome any feedback - it was certainly a good learning experience and whether or not you guys feel it was balanced, I hope to do better next time :)
I won my first game as mafia! Yay!
...and of course by 'I won,' I mean that 'BSmith won, and I tagged along for the ride.' Full credit to him for our victory. Thanks Lazy for hosting (and your great write-ups), and well played everybody else - you had us sweating in that tied round, let me tell you.
Either you're a Free Spirit; or, you are seriously, with a straight face, espousing what is quite frankly one of the dumbest theories to ever grace the game of mafia.
You picked it Zack . I apologise if any of my comments came off as rude, but as you can see I was just trying to deflect attention away from BSmith.
Also, here's the Mafia QT (http://www.quicktopic.com/47/H/SruyD7KStAPqH) for anybody that's interested.
Thanks Ishmael – you were a great partner and like I said in the QT, this was a team effort to the end!
This was a quite enjoyable game for me, made even more enjoyable by actually winning. We had some big ups (surviving the coin toss) and big downs (Ishmael getting killed N2) with some luck thrown in there too!

Well, if anything I was the rude one, not you.
Good job, BSmith, I didn't suspect you hardly at all, even if I wasn't trying to scumhunt at all. I would have guessed Neri was the last mafia.
And bad job town, for wasting all that time lynching off the Splitters.
I think this officially makes me the least helpful townie ever... I'm not entirely sure how I survived.

Ah, Chaotix. At least your lynch was a good idea. You had already done your bit.
Good job, BSmith. You made effective use of your role as a cover.
Looka likw you were finally scum, Ishmael.

Chaotix was more effective at fighting the mafia than the town was! I love it!

Told ya not to waste time lynching neutral splitters. However I never thought that the mafia would be big uns! Good game Lazy!
It's worth noting that I was a Little 'Un (which is why Chaotix was able to kill me). I'm still not sure why the town thought that all the Free Spirits were Little 'Uns though - I seem to recall it originating with something Chaotix said, and as a serial killer you wouldn't consider him to be the most trustworthy.

Hey!
I'm not entirely sure how I survived.
You were pretty much always on my side, or pushing ideas that benefited me - all the way to the end. You also made some of the exact same arguments I was going to make, especially when pushing for Subotan's lynch, but got there before I did. That and you were drawing valuable lynch attention away from me. :laugh4:
I figured it would be bad form to kill you off.
Question for the group - why didn't you question the Seon kill? I think that was make-or-break for me as I had just come off the tie-breaker and figured I'd be getting more attention the next day.

In your dreams, I have that title for this game. ;)

I guess so! :laugh4:
I think I have a surprising knack for nailing scum with first-night kills as a neutral-ish role.
Congrats to BSmith for going all the way to the end, and to Ishmael for concealing your Free-Spirit-ness so well.

I knew that you smelled like scum. I didn't know why, but you somehow seemed...off... to my eyes. I was trying to prepare a case against you when I got killed. -_-
