Medieval 2 Total war Vanilla editing

Hi guys,i'ved edited some unit stats in M2:TW (export_descr_unit.txt file).Good,it's modified but when i play,units have exactly the same stats as before.What did i miss? What sould i do?

i all so have this problem . did you ever find out how to fix ? do you need to repack all the game files ?
