View Full Version : Toughest song to get out of of you head?

I can't explain this one at all.... It's a cold February morning. My 3 year old daughter nudges me half awake at 6AM as she climbs in between my wife and I (both of whom are desparately trying to eek out what few remaining zzzz's we have).
And it hit... the dreaded "ricochet bullet song".... You know what I mean. Out of nowhere, you hear the melody, and that's it... you can't get it out. It just rattles around and around and around. Thank God for You-Tube and I-Tunes (doesn't help get rid of it,but at least you can get a better fix than your own pathetic humming).
So the interloper into my sleep this morning?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vV0KmOYfomM. While it is an awesome tune, and I shook many a bone at bars & house parties to it back in the day, what in sweet f^&K's sake was it doing in my head at 6AM on a Saturday morning?
So I'm curious... what are some ricochet bullet songs you all have fallen prey to? What do you think is the toughest to get out again?
For me it's rarely songs.....mostly it's just music...music I might've heard on the radio, playing some game some movie soundtrack....And it's not limited to a few. Often it happens that I keep humming it for a few days till I listen to something new, or happen to listen to something old again.
However the song 'Us' by Regina Spektor keeps coming back to me many times while driving. I just start whistling the tune quietly, without even realising it, until someone else wonders out loud as to where's that sound coming from

But it is my alarm clock ringtone, so I'm to blame :P
I keep humming the riff whole morning XD

At the moment, Alyssa Reid's Alone Again is bouncing around in my head and refusing to exit:

Ignore the rap bit at the beginning and the fact that it's a cover version - it's hellishly catchy.

I've had much worse songs get lodged in my brain, so I oughtn't complain too much. Still, it would be nice if it would go away soon!

Well Don, when my daughter was about 3-4 years old, we went on a trip to Florida, took her cousin, same age, along too. We drove down from New York, so the wife and I had this brilliant idea to get them a portable cassette player and some kiddie song tapes to keep them occupied. It didn't take too long before they figured out how to work the rewind button so they could play their just discovered favorite song, over, and over, and over, ad nauseum. The song: The Hokey Pokey.:stare: Almost lost my mind. Make sure she has headphones Don.
I'm still talking to my therapist about that one.
My latest can't stop whistlin' tune: "Daydream".

That song by youtube user Morrakiu. it's a play on the song "God is an awesome god" (just change the last word to a certain bodypart). It's a song that celebrates a certain organ as a "God".
as I don't want to get into trouble, and am not deranged, I won't share it.
EDIT: hey, I'm not gonna lie...and you have to admit, it is a funny song.

J**z in my pants - Lonely Island
Rebecca Black - Friday
I'd provide a link, but I think we've all seen it and it's so offensive to the senses that I'd have to add myself to the permaban list for doing so. xD
This is one of the reasons I speak so well...

Great original though.
