In this thread you can post a report with stats or a screenshot of the biggest EB battles you have had.
I do not have any to post right now but that will come later.
To reminisce, in MTW1 I have fought a battle with 60.000 troops (The epic defense of Constantinople with 10.000 vs 50.000 crazy French men at arms!) and in RTW:Vanilla I fought a battle as the Romans vs the Egyptians in which I was attacked several times by full stack armies. In the end my two full stacks, together about 5000 men fought off 20.000 egyptians in 3 battles, including some stacks with elephants!

I have played some battles in vanilla where my 10 unit brutii stack needed to stand against like 4 macedon stacks. I was besieging Larissa with a FM, and when I pressed end turn a macedon army attacked me. I killed them and another came and so forth. I don't know how many I killed, but it were a lot of men, as macedon didn't have any strong resistance in the campaign after that.

If we count multiplayer we have had 4v4's with several thousand men on the field, possibly even 10,000, I'm not sure atm. For example we replayed Raphia in which one member of each team (1/4th of the total number of players) controlled only 20 units of various phalangites and these only composed part of the phalanx line! There is a replay kicking around somewhere although you would have to modify your files to view it.
Yeah, as Rob pointed out, EBO eclipsed any major battle I ever had in EB :P
Still there were those endless stacks in the mid-turn, which attacked the same army of mine: those were pretty intense moments in my campaings ^^
Raphia; I was excellent in that battle *whistling*

I meant in the campaign :) obviously its possible to play very big battles in the multiplayer!
Im mostly interested in big pitched battles, like 4000 vs 8000 (on huge setting) or prolonged combat, such as where one army is attacked multiple times in a turn without being able to retrain, or call in reinforcements others than those who are immediatly present.
But that is boring, IIRC at Raphia our actual fighting did not last nearly as long as all the time we took to get into position .

I dont understand what you mean exactly or why that is relevant? I am not asking for multiplayer games :P

My problem with SP battles is that I never get too excited by them because they are hardly ever decisive. Only campaigns can be decisive since there is an unlimited amount of troops and mnai for the AI to draw from and unless you take towns it will never stop. Sort of detracts from the battles imo.

I am talking about campaign battles!!!

Well there is a difference between a campaign and a battle. Sometimes I feel like Hannibal, winning multiple "decisive" victories over my opponent only to find another full stack awaiting my now depleted army for all my heroic efforts.:shame:
Also, a campaign can involves armies at multiple locations while battles can only take place at one point generally speaking. For example, I can campaign to take Asia Minor from the Seleucids and land armies at Pergamon, Sardis, Sidon, and Tarsus. Geographically they are completely different and do not constitute a single battle, however, they form part of a single campaign. I suppose you could say "The Battle for Asia Minor" but this would be a modern way of describing battles.

Even though it was not a single battle, i had to defeat 11 FULL STACKS in one turn of gold/silver chevroned rebels in east germany because of some weird spawn bug.
All i had was 1 stack of roman legionares, there was about 300 men left after the battles :D
EDIT: And since were talking about non single battles. My invasion of baktria involved 13 full stacks of romans :D

ye thats what i want to hear about :P the 11 full stacks count as 1 battle since it was in 1 turn :P
but ok i understand what you mean Brave Robin but i was just talking from the perspective of 1 army fighting a superior force (or just multiple full stacks partaking in one battle). if we talk historically, you can say that Hannibal had his campaign against rome, its all very interesting but i want to hear about Cannae and about Trasimere. ofcourse they are in perspective and in line of the campaign but its not what im asking for per se.

Gotch'a. I can't recall massive battles in EB on the scale of ones I had in Vanilla. As the Seleucids I remember the Brutii just spamming full stacks in Greece. When I landed my elite army at Athens I had to fight off about 12 full stacks in one turn. Crazy stuff. Thank the gods units routed quickly in Vanilla :p

ive had quite a few massive battles in EB as Seleucid. it was 200 BC and i invaded italy. the next turn my faction leader was surrounded and attacked by 3 fullstacks of romani. luckily i replaced my faction leader's army of horse archers with a newly recruited army of elites from greece and the romani armies were half filled with vigiles. the legionaries ran into my phalanxes and my hypaspisati annihilated the vigiles leaving me with a heroic victory with like 7 000 kills. my faction leader died after taking Rome and i recruited an army of mercs for the next faction leader who went to Roman controlled (except one province) spain. he regularly faced 3 roman virgil stacks at a time and sacked every city in spain before gifting to lusos (who then got so powerful and backstabbed me =[ ). My current faction leader is campaigning in Roman germany and once again facing virgil stacks.
The lusotanians also engage my armies in huge numbers (3 fullstacks) against my army of local italian hastati and lugurian spearmen except they actually use elite units as well as those tough belgian spearmen
On a different campaign as KH, i sent my royal army to sack alexandria but the yellow fever suddenly surrounded me with around 10 000 men and i got a crushing defeat with my faction leader killed (ai was smart, they attacked my fleet before attacking him)

If you press "print" the game will automatically produce screenshots in a folder called "tgas" inside the game directory. You have to turn off anti-aliasing first, though, because otherwise the shots will turn out plain black. Before loading them up and posting them you should convert them preferably into .jpg format.

The way I personally take screenshots - since xfire doesn't wanna work with EB - is I press printscreen, tab out and open paint, then paste. My screenshot is now in Paint and I can edit or save it or do whatever else that I will with it.

If you forget to immediately paste, I've found that you can view them with Quicktime picture viewer even considering the file type.
