Very cool faction...my favorite in the game. If you can survive the first, say, 5-10 years, you should have a alot of fun. You'll be faced with a variety of enemies: the familiar Hellenistic infantry-heavy Seleukids, the archer-happy Saka Rauka, and the rather terrifying armored horse archers of the Pahlavan empire. You'll have to choose which potential enemies to befriend at the beginning while you go after whoever you think might be the weakest at the time you decide to go on the offensive. You'll go broke very soon so financial management is a big issue at the start; you'll probably want to disband your expensive cavalry unit(s) and, after blitzing one or two rebel towns (Kophen is the usual first choice), you should hunker down and do a little internal economic work. In the past I've kept the Silver Death at bay for a number of years through generous diplomacy while I was sucked into epic campaigns with the Saka, while in other campaigns I've blitzed the weak eastern extent of the Seleukid Empire while buying time to the north. And then there's the mine-happy regions to the east -- if you can stare down the mighty Indian elephants and the feared Guild warriors, you'll have access to a good supply of cash from towns like Taksashila. If you can get over a couple of early humps, you'll be in good shape and you'll have alot of fun -- with access to an amazing variety of units.

Hope this helps. Enjoy!!

With Baktria, I prefer to make peace with the Saka at the start of the game, and attack the Seleucids while they're weak and vulnerable.

I leave Marakanda, Alexandria-Eschate, and Antiochia-Margiane alone since they are primary targets for both Saka and Pahlava, and I want to stay at peace with them early on. Instead I go for Alexandria-Ariana and Prophthasia, which are easy victims if you attack early enough. Then I try to make peace with the Seleucids, which hopefully will be possible as they have many other enemies to worry about. Then I go after the Eleutheroi cities Kophen and Alexandropolis. That's enough territory to give me a good income and build up my economy. I leave Gava-Haomavarga alone too as a buffer between Baktria and the Saka coming from Sulek.
