I've installed EB on RTWexe, and everything went as usual. But, after every fourth or fifth battle, sometimes even at the end of a turn, a CTD occurs. Now, i havent played EB for about a year now, and reinstalled it about a week ago. Any possible explanations? I doubt it is a hardware problem, since i'm playing on the same machine as before, and while CTDs did occur, they were rare.

Are you running Jirisys' mega mod pack? I was suffering severe instability when I had it, a CTD was guaranteed after every battle.

Wait until the music ends at the battle result screen before returning to campaign map, this helps. 1.2 fixes all installed?

Check the section here (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=103681) about crashes on Ai turns. If the crash is repeatable or you suffer anything else post back here.

I've just installed all the fixes (although previous time i played EB, it was without fixes installed), and i didn't know that saving just before a battle induces CTDs, that should cover a lot of them, but, i need to give it some thorough testing... Battles, a lot of them, to be precise.

EDIT: And, offcourse, thanks for the info!

RTW suffers from a memory leak that was improved in Bi (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?95664-New-installer-for-Europa-Barbarorum-with-Barbarian-Invasion) and further in Alex (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?94861-ALEXANDER-EB), if you happen to posses them.

The linked thread covers nearly all technical issues in EB, give it a good read.

Don't forget to set the single core affinity if you use a multi-core engine. I can't express how much of a difference this makes.

Sorry for being incompetent, but where do you set that? Within the game?

Never knew there was a program that did it for me. Still, it is easy enough to just manually alt-tab out every time I start the game.
