View Full Version : Bangladesh-India Cyber War.

This war has been going on for a couple of days. Bangladeshi hackers have hacked around 27000 Indian sites in protest to the brutality and torture their people are facing near the border. They have a facebook page, where they have released the admin username and password for multiple Indian sites. Some major sites include the Border Security Force and the Indian Stock Exchange. I 100% support Bangladesh. As do China, Pakistan, UAE, Singapore, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and many other countries. Israel is soon joining them.

I hate using Facebook as a link, but there isn't much else.

It is kind of hypocritical of China to express their support to Bangladesh while they run a ruthless regime in their own country. Pakistan obviously just waits for something anti-India to spring up and clings onto that.

As far as the incident itself was concerned, even as of yet nothing has been proven. Theories are flying in the air. And most people who criticise the BSF personnel forget the large number of illegal immigrants who cross over from Bangladesh into India, and the risk they pose. They add to the already explosive population increase, and even worse are a security risk since they can easily be picked up by covert terror cells in the country.

As far as the hacking attacks are concerned, they are juvenile. If issues exist they are to be sorted out in a constructive manner. Trying to strong arm someone rarely works, and only serves to increase hostilities and aggravate the situation.

Edit:
Although I agree that rampant brutality against illegal immigrants isn't the solution either. Those involved must be punished, but with proper course.

When they hack into the sites, they don't screw it up. They just leave a message about their concerns. I don't think their intent is to cause mayhem, it's to draw attention to something that is predominantly brushed off. And the construction of the Tipaimukh Dam is a biggie. India are breaking some UN protocol, by constructing something within their own country that affects another.

Tipaimukh project was a wrong move I agree. India is at fault, but nonetheless, attempts at hacking websites (whether to deface them or to release information) are just silly. People concerned are discussing the issue and trying to resolve it.

When the Bangladeshi hackers attack Indian websites, Indian hackers retaliate in kind. How is this beneficial to anyone? Is it upto the common masses or these hackers to make decisions? No. Can they make a difference by hacking websites? No.
If anyone thinks that such attempts are going to make our bureaucrats and government official work faster or find a better solution, then they are painfully ignorant about how thick headed, obstinate and corrupt the people in power here are. The only way to resolve such situations is with cool headed diplomacy.

Many people here are receptive to the plight of Bangladesh. Environmentalists realise that the dam was a bad idea. But acts like this do no good. And I really doubt thatr this group's sole agenda is what they profess.

I don't see how. After all the state does not promote and sponsor illegal immigration does it?

And check the stats. You'll find out that the magnitudes to differ vastly.

Can we call this a proxy war?

Politics. India and China are the two emerging superpowers in the region and are sure to lock horns over things like this.

I guess next we'll see the greeks lecture the germans on fiscal responsibility...

No one is lecturing anyone. Are you holding the government of a nation responsible for some illigal immigrants, who are less than a fraction of the nation's population?
And according to what you're saying, as long as a country is not flawless itself, it cannot act to prevent crimes being committed against it by foreign nationals? What kind of resoning is this? Do you really mean to say that as long as we can't stop our nationals from immigrating to another country illegaly, we have no right to try and prevent illegal immigrants coming onto our soil?

Trying to prevent it and complaining about it are two different things.

India has the worlds largest population of dirt poor people. They know they will seek a better life in a better country. Yet, they do nothing about it all, save whining when some other poor people cross their borders.

Hence irony meter explosion.

And ofcourse you are the perfect judge of what the government is doing or is not eh? Tell me have you even visited this country?

The person who was complaining about the illegal immigration, if you can call my earlier posts complaining, was me. The people who were doing something about it, were the BSF guards, who got too overzealous in performing their duties and hence are being crucified.
The government is made of sods, who like I already said are corrupt. Nonetheless, they run this country no matter how badly it is run, and fixing such institutions takes time.

What you need to do, is differentiate, between who's actually 'complaining' here and the government of the country.
