Taking a province from under a sieging clan

I'm playing as Shimazu and entered a war with Otomo to protect my Vassal Ito. At first I parked my army near Ito's Castle as I was hesitant to attack the superior Otomo army, hoping the defending Ito army would tip the balance. Then I saw the Otomo army moving away and I moved my army toward the castle but wouldn't reach it in 1 turn. At that moment a Shoni army sieged the castle.

I want to take the province but I'm not willing to attack the Shoni army. Are there other methods to take the province from under the Shoni? I've got a ninja nearby but sabotaging the Shoni army doesn't eem to lift the siege or let me siege the castle.

Any ideas?

The best I can come up with is waiting for Shoni to take it and then causing it to rebel with monks/priests in combination with farm sabotage

Once a castle is laid siege to, its not possible to interact with it except with an army.

I miss the days of MTW when you could take underhanded measures to get what you wanted and still appear to help your ally/tradepartner.
The Shoni army is really depleted, with some luck it won't win the siege and I'll be able to siege.

If possible, you can go back one turn and sabotage Shoni's army.
Another way is to ask Otomo to be your ally or vassal. This will immediately end their attack on Ito.
Or you can forget about Ito and Otomo, and steal Shoni's rich provinces when they are busy.

and if it does win, it'll be easy picking for the rebels.

actually, it might be possible to get the province to rebel even before the siege is completed. I have a feeling its possible but I'm not certain

That would be cheating. So I won't do that.

That's actually something I didn't think of. It may work.
It may mean I'll be at war with the Shoni but at least I won't have lost any honor.

I've only got a ninja present so this is probably not an option.

After all, Shoni assaulted with their depleted stack and I declined to join in. The result was an almost undefended castle which I could take from the Otomo. They refused to become my vasal during the Shoni seige so I didn't ask again.
