Hello everyone,

In another of my "this could really take off or sink like a stone" threads I invite people to partake in a competition. There have been the screenshot competitions, there have been action packed, scenic and downright lazy entries. Now I invite you to show us your creative skills and post your best EB artwork... if you like. This is an open ended contest, I will award baloons for particualrly good efforts and if it proves succesful I will create a thread by where the most popular/talented/original entries will be entered to win a badly drawn signature banner!

The rules:

1. You must not use EB edited screens, your work must be from scratch.

2. You can work with any medium/materials; paint, charcoal even clay or plastecine as you see fit.

3. The artwork can be in any form; standard picture, comic, diarama etc.

4. Maximum of three entries per person (if we even get close to that)

5. Don't submit other people's work, it wil be found out.

Assuming this is a success I will keep this competition open as long as it is popular.

How close has the Artwork have to be to EB? I mean, sure Biblical age and medieval Spearmen are out but would for example a hellenistic (so no Corinthean) Hoplite with a Tracian Helmet and a different shield design qualify?

You don't need to accurately replicate EB units, feel free to use a bit of artistic licence. Just as long as they are not vanilla esque fantasy units.

A while ago I was trying to replace the coming of age event for the Romans with something more, well, Roman. So I did this

In the last year I've been trying to learn blender and have done a few Greek temples along the way. This is the best one

I really like the helmets in that one, Finn MacCumhail. And to the right you get a sense of the claustrophobic chaos of the phalanx.

Thank you!

Nice work btw! I particularly like the look of irritation on the face of the Phalangite who's sarissa has broken. Like Maeran said the helmets are very good!

Having considered it I will award a balloon to Finn's Phalangite battle and for NoHelmet's Sassanid cataphract (it's only done in graphite but you can feel the weight of that man).

Nice work! :balloon: :balloon3:

Thank you Brennus! This is my first baloon. What about making this competition even greater? Perhaps uniting people from other 3rd BC - 1 AD mods?

First of all lets decide the organization issues. As an option, it is possible to create a thread somewhere in the Mead Hall, Frontroom, or any other more appropriate place. There would be the rules of the competition. Also there would be final poll to find the winners.

As for the rules, it depends of the number of people. There might be the following nominations: epic battles, portraying single unit (like NoHelmet's Sassanid cataphract), and portraying the famous person of the 272 BC- 14 AD time frame.

Yes, the timeframes are from 272 BC to 14 AD. Same rules as here Additional recommendation - no elephants.

If you want to organise a competition and all, you might want to ask the content managers for some help. They should be able to help you with stuff like this and will probably be able to get you guys a sig banner for the winner and stuff as well.

I can forward them to this if you like?

Thank you Moros, personally I'm totally agree, but the final word for Brennus, though I don't think he would be against.

I am thoroughly opposed to the idea, in fact it makes me sick to the stomach.... wait, no actually sounds like a great idea. Thanks Moros! Finn, seeing as you came up witht the idea for expanding it you fancy sharing the task (and credit if it works?).

:balloon2: Need I say more. Excellent! Likewise Ramesses II nice effort. Ok I am just back from a wee break, will try and get a more professional thread going this weekend with the help of the moderators. Myself and Finn seem to have some good ideas lines up which should result in a very varied competition. So watch this space for more info!
