I started this quite a while ago and haven't played it in a while. I do plan on picking it up again at some point (probably when I finish posting all the slides). I was going to abandon this but I just got a new pc a month ago and for some reason this was the first time I was able to pull saves off of one computer and put them on another and actually have them work.

As of now I'm about 50 years in or so. Again, this will be done on powerpoint (so quick and easy, the game itself takes long enough). So if you want lots of words or battle pics, this will certainly disappoint. And if you have a small monitor this will be completely unfun.

Just for the hell of it I will post my house rules and early walkthrough.

I am playing the shameless m/m campaign on the BI.exe and no other mods expect FD.
-No toggle_fow (except world map)
-No process_cq except where mic adds nothing but the next level adds troops (subjugation/homeland only)
-No move_character except ships (once per turn and only to slightly extend the distance)
-auto_win allowance:
`Any battle with (me) 3/2 or greater ratio can be auto_win
(heavy armor, HA, elite status, and presence of FMs has an estimated exponential effect on troop numbers for either side)
`Any battle crashed is redone with auto_win
`Redundant levy stacks defeated twice are auto_win
`Redundant Xdeath stacks defeated 3x’s are auto_win

FD
-If at war and no exchange of land for >4 years, then treaty allowed.
-If at war and no battle for >2 years, then treaty allowed.
-If Capitol is taken and no battle for 5 seasons, then treaty allowed.
-If faction not at war does not grant trade rights, then trade rights granted.
-If smaller faction not at war won't trade maps, then maps exchanged.
-Around 240 BC, Casse is given Belgae provinces.
-All Gallic factions can be kept alive by giving them eastern Celtic/Galatian provinces
-Any city I own can be given away.

walkthrough:

First turn deleted all troops and all ships but one fleet (cities without FM were left 1 garrison) & made Hanno faction heir. Recruited spy in Sicily. Built walls, sewers, and roads where needed and trade everywhere else. After 2 years recruited 10 garrisons of infantry and one garrison of elephants in Kart-Hadast and 2 adjacent cities. Sent Hanno to Capitol to retrain and join army. Built level 2 mic in city above Numidia & Started building level 4 mics in Carthage and Utica.

I don't know if it pisses off the mods to post a bunch of pics all at once so I will do about 10 - 15 per day. Each pic has to be saved individually anyway. If I do a mass save through powerpoint the pics all end up being very small.

No, it's definitely worth doing, your images are great!

Nice of you to leave Roma alive. For Romans, it is actually much more humiliating to be alive but reduced to an insignificant little provincial city-state crushed under the boot-heel of a mighty foreign empire, than to be dead and part of an heroic legend like the Trojans.

Titus. Thanks. It never seems as fun when Roma is gone but there is still red in Italy and Gaul. Perhaps my net was slow last time. I tried to read this through to ck for continuity and every pic loaded very very slowly. I had to stop.

I am finally caught up now and can start playing the game again..???..I feel like that SOuth park episode on WoW...idk...I am a grown man with a girlfriend and a full time job... wHat the hell am I doing writing a pretend alternate history of Carthage based on a game that's more than 7 years old? slight lulz (1%).

03-27-2012, 14:39
ive never seen the ai seleucids do so well. plz dont hurt them :((. just take sidon and an attack that close to their homelands should be enough for them to recognize that a war with you is not beneficial :P

Titus Marcellus Scato

But the Seleucids are trying to re-create Alexander the Great's original empire. That means they will be invading Macedonia, and after they've wiped out Macedon, they'll be going after the southern Greeks - who are now Carthaginian allies.

So a major war is inevitable unless Carthage wants to abandon southern Greece before the Seleucids get there. One idea might be to offer all the cities of southern Greece to the Seleucids in exchange for Sidon.

And Kyrene. That is also part of the Qarthadast victory conditions.

seleucid empire; hahaha, i don't think the AI ever thinks war with humans is NOT beneficial. Hopefully that is only a total war thing as this is the theme to every sci fi plot. :robot:

I played about 3-5 years last week and a half, but had fraps in the wrong folder...or something. meh. not too much happened. took pella, halikarnasos, and augila. Sacked some cities but didn't take them. Had some nice elites vs elites pics and even lost a battle. Oh well.

I plan on having the irl roman empire but with qarthadast (except maybe not gaul..though elephants in the alps is so tempting).

I plan on keeping greece the way it is. besides, my super generic greek armies are a lot of fun to use (basic archers, classical hoplites, & allied greek generals). it really feels like I have a powerful ally in Sparte. I just love what the team did with the whole gov system, lots of RP possibilities. I have always wanted to take Sparte with Xanthippos. since they attacked me and an athenian was governor of sparte, it seemed appropriate. the "Spartans" themselves may end up blitzing through Babylon and Persia eventually, that may be how I end up wiping out AS permanently.

was going to do a whole civil war thing as my shophet is supposed to be in Kart-Hadast but is out raging in greece and that pissed off the senate. I didn't know how to do a Carthage vs Carthage battle against ai so I changed all of that in my aar before posting. I was going to make it look like the Shophet won and declared himself King or dictator or something.

This is pretty fun, especially since I thought this campaign was gone forever when my motherboard died last october.

For civil wars within Quarthadast, you might want to look at this guide:

https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?127712-Hax-s-Great-Guide-to-Civil-War

To do it more simply, you can use Force Diplomacy to give Carthaginian towns to Saba (in Africa), Lusotann (in Spain and Italy) or Koinon Hellenon (in Greece or Sicily.) Assuming these factions haven't been wiped out.

not much here. just tons and tons of battles. ran out of patience and formed a new cheat, a 'shared mic' association between my hellenic generals/client rulers and the provinces they liberate. if there is a L3 or 4 kh local mic, I process_cq equal. I want it to feel like the kh have merged with qarthadast. lame I know, meh.

Very nice! Lovely picture of flying phalangites launched by a helpful elephant...

You're filthy rich too. Actually, you're beyond filthy - insanely rich. You probably have disposable gold toothpicks that you throw away after every meal. Never wear the same clothes more than once. You shatter every precious china cup you drink from so that no lips of less royalty can drink from it again. Your personal baggage train while you're on campaign is probably longer than that of most armies.

yes we are quite rich. and no, we certainly cannot have anyone of lesser royalty drinking from our noble cups. And just WHY would we ever wear the same clothes twice? That is disgusting! Our kings harem has nothing but nude virgin princesses, the only thing they are ever allowed to wear for modesty are diamonds (though of course, modesty is usually not allowed until it is earned). Once virginity is lost then they are out of the harem and can get married. No foreign king will ever have a virgin wife unless it is Qarthadastei.

I cannot remember if there is or is not a bug associated with money. I think it is the AI that can cause the game to crash if they have more than 7 mil, or something. can i or ai cause crash by having too much money or is this complete myth?

I know nothing about the Carthaginian government. It was contrived but I had to turn it into a monarchy of sorts.

Here is where modding skills would be nice. I thought I remember being able to recruit Carthage troops in Phoenicia. I guess not. I think maybe that was 1.0? I also checked the recruitment viewer and noticed that naked fanatics were supposed to be or at one point were recruited in Galatia. No mo. If I am to do anything in the east it will depend on kretian archers, peasants, classical hoplites, mercenaries, and exported Thracians. Thracian troops are incredible. I wish Odrysai was a faction
