The classic Theme Hospital has landed on Good Old Games (http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/theme_hospital). I hate to think how many hours of my childhood this game ate! This game is the original hospital sim and the true sequel to Theme Park. This is Bullfrog at their best IMO.

I can still hear the receptionist announcing "The hospital administrator is cheating!" I don't think it had a sandbox mode so using money cheats on later campaign levels was the only way to design a dream hospital. Ah, and the rat shooting! I used to let my hospital fill up with filth until rats infested it, then break out the shotgun and go on a shooting spree. Until, that is, I discovered the hidden rat-shoot level. The diseases! Hilarious - the squits, bloaty-head, vomit waves. The treatments were even better, brilliantly imaginative cures and animations.

I have an uncle who is a doctor. He disapproved of my parents letting me play computer games. One day they insisted I show him Theme Hospital. Next day he had his own copy. :gring:

Yup, also played it.
Wasn't very good at it though.

It took me a long time to grasp the concept of charging for health care. Thought I had to build everything I needed and keep things running with the money I got at the start, with the occasional cash influx when I treated an emergency. :embarassed: I was a very young frog in a country where free health care for all was considered a fundamental part of society.
