This is really frustrating!...
i like to research lots and take my time through the game.
Is there any way of making more heirs around this period so it will last longer?.

Appreciated feedback. thx n advance http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif.

as far as I know, the heirs are historical, and you can't make more.

Although a "Pillow the consort" option in the throne room wouldn't be a bad deal.

Yep, each daimyo gets a set amount of heirs and that's it. They stop being born around 1600 to stop you getting into situations like it's the year 2475 and Japan is still using technology dating back to the Sengoku-Jidai period.

wish "end turn" was just like a month instead of a season. Would be much better.

Looks like another rush job just get army and attack then

Greetings,
The heir births are historical. Are the deaths historical as well? If not how long do they live? Or better yet what is the oldest Daimyo you have had so far?

Death are NOT historical! I once had Shimazu Daimyo lived up to the age of 127 http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif I am not joking. What you have to do is when he's about 70 years old, keep saving every season. If he dies, load up the save, and this time he won't die. Keep doing it as long as you want http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

the deaths can't be historical. If your heirs or your Daimyo is the leader of a unit, and historically died in a certain battle, or a certain year in battle, he won't just croak.

I have lost many games due to my Daimyo and heirs 'dying of illness'. This was until I realised that, as has been pointed out, the deaths are not historical and there is a chance of them dying every season. This increases as the game goes on but it is still quite possible to have ancient Daimyos. I think the computer can also sense when your clan is not doing anything and it will start to kill off your Daimyos in order to prompt some action. However, I am therefore puzzled as to why some of the technology (i.e. Gun Factory) was made so that it can only be accessed after so many years.

The game starts in 1530 and its possible (and fairly easy) to have the Gun Factory within 20 years on Expert level. This is within the lifespan of the starting daimyo

I can hardly imagine how can you survive to year 1680. Isn't the horde bugging you using some 6 digit number army every season? http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/tongue.gif

Yoko Kono,

True, it is not beyond the bounds of possiblity (I even got to the stage where every one of my provinces had a citadel), but what with the pressures of building up a good army + upgrades it is usually well past 1550 before I even think about building a Gun Factory. I am merely suggesting that for most people who prefer to have short games some of the more interesting tech is out of reach. I still contest the fact that it would take a whole year to constuct the crappy wooden castle, for example.
