It's just a simple act of house cleaning on the part of the backroom staff. We're all quite sure the Drunkards thread won't fall into oblivion.

It's not my place to answer this fully.
Unstickying the thread reflects the staff's view on it's worth as a stickied topic rather than towards the thread itself.

I believe the Backroom staff just want to up the degree of difficulty, posting to a stickied thread while hammered is easy! ~D

Common complaint is how there are too many stickies in the various sections, most of them not serving any real purpose. "tThe Drunkards Thread" being one of the many stickies which fall underneath this description.

However, considering how many patrons like to have a nice stiff drink to pick them up and post, it will constantly be "bumped" to the top regardless, so even though it isn't officially "stickied", the constant bumping will keep at the top of the page and prevent it from sliding away into the abyss.

If members want the topic, they will keep it active (which they do). However, it doesn't deserve "sticky" status.

I disagree, and finding it when drunk will probably ensure it falls into disuse and up the amount of random posts/threads elsewhere.

Please sticky it again or even run a poll to gauge opinion.
