Weak Pahlava AI?

Almost in every single campaign I have, they don't really do anything, but keep their 2 starting territories, sometimes conquer Marakanda or Alexandrea - Margiane, besides that they just vegetate. Often they do not even declare war on AS at all...

Are they intimidated by the size of the Seleucids? Or simply are they just unable to use their horse-archers correctly?

It kinda makes me feel disappointed since almost every time I expect a strong Parthian Empire slowly eating up Iran and growing a formidable superpower (like IRL Parthian Empire), though they just simply remain a petty nomadic tribe riding and hunting round the Caspian area not giving a damn :shrug:

Try to do the following.

1) go to the \EB\Data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign make a backup copy of the descr_strat.txt.

2) open descr_strat.txt with Notepad++ (it is freeware soft, google it)

3) Now, lets weeken the Seleukids AI. Find there faction romans_julii, balanced stalin
and change it to faction romans_julii, fortified mao - this way AS would have defending stile with mass employment of the light infantry.

4) Find faction parthia, balanced henry

and change to faction parthia, comfort genghis this way they will mass recruit HA.

5) Don't forget to weaken Ptolies, or they will eat AS and Parthia quite easy:

Find faction numidia, religious caesar

change to faction numidia, fortified mao

6) Start new campaign. But don't pick Parthia, AS or Ptolies. Or any AS natural enemy, coz this way AS would be very aggressive. Try some Romans, KH, Gauls, Sweboz, and so on.

7) After you start a campaign with changed descr_strat, and saved campaign, you can use original descr strat, without affecting the changes in your "fixed" AI behaviour for agressive Pahlava.

8) Don't forget to tell us what has happen.

What units are they mostly recruiting with the pre-set "balanced henry"?
And would this change for Pahlava only result also in some advantages for them without weakening AS and Ptolies too much?

Henry stands for light and heavy cavalry and missile infantry. But, as far henry used in original EB descr_strat, and it didn't make Pahlava "Pink Fever", it is logical to change smth. Pahlava has good missile cavalry, so genghis is OK too, I think. As we made AS relying on light infantry, it wouldn't be a problem for Pahlava HAs to deal with them.

If you do not make AS AI a little bit silly, they would eat Pahlava anyway. Large territory, script bonuses for the big amount of cities, well-build economy + scripted extra money, phalanx spam... The only way to promote Pahlava AI is to weaken their natural enemies.
