Do we have one?
Would there be a chance to coax atomic into setting up one for .Org purposes?
Something like Mumble or Team Speak.

I'm sure we could find some place to run it if it was desired. The question is, would anyone use it?

I hope so... maybe an alternative to the chat?
I have not been playing multiplayer in totalwar much (truthful? - never tried it). Maybe there is one ingame already.
Wouldn't they want such a feature? Tactical decisions are best uttered vocally.

I would use it when platooning in WoT with some of the .org players.

Would Teamspeak be the preferred utility? I used to run a Teamspeak server when I managed a FPS site many, many years ago, but haven't used it in a long time. All my voice chat experiences lately have been with in-game utilities or Skype, so I'm not sure what program is currently popular.

I got TeamSpeak 3. So I would say yes.

Teamspeak is pretty bad in my experience.

The best experience with clients so far for me is Mumble (http://mumble.sourceforge.net/) which is also open source (Teamspeak and Vent are not). So preferred client in my experience is Mumble, and I only have vent installed since I sometimes have to use it, but I personally have chosen not to use Teamspeak at all. Lots of negative experience.

We'll look into the possibilities and get back to you on this.

I was forced to get Team Speak 3. I have to admit, it is an improvement from Team Speak 2, but that is a decent first impression at least.

So what do I do to speak with you all?

Mumble... Is it completely impossible to do this?

I believe Husar was looking into this.

Yeah, I'm sorry, I forgot about it as other issues popped up.

IIRC it also wasn't sure whether we can install anything on the server we're currently on and someone would have to do this (http://mumble.sourceforge.net/Installing_Mumble#Linux), apparently.

A few other options were discussed that may have solved all the problems (before I forgot about it), but those options didn't really get anywhere.

The other option is to go to http://www.mumble.com/ and simply pay for them to host a mumble server.

Thanks to our glorious, most helpful, very nice and friendly Linux overlord therother, we now have a Public Test Server for Mumble!

(See? Sometimes complaining leads to results... :sweatdrop: )

Anyway, you can find the server under 85.10.217.34 and the password is TheOrg.

There's curently noone on there so bring your girlfriend or something. ~;)

How many times do I need to say this, people on TheOrg do not have girlfriends, or even friends who happen to be girls, or many friends at all..........

The members, perhaps. It's quite well known that the staff are rather successful in their romantic pursuits. It's a requirement for joining, actually. We must uphold our standards.

Lol, touche.

Bringing it almost back on topic I won't be using it, talking to imaginary people on t'internet is one step too far for my (imaginary?) other half and you wouldn't be able to understand my weegie babble anyway, especially when I'm drunk. (Got there before you IA)

Alright the server is up.

I would suggest that you make the following changes to settings after running the audio wisard.

Enable Push to talk... nothing is more annoying than hearing everything that goes on in the background.

Using a button on your mouse as the button you push when you want to talk works best if you play games.

Finally, remove all those annoying speech messages that interferes with your conversations.
