View Full Version : You are what you eat

Any one have a peculiar diet? I went vegan recently. I am enjoying it greatly. I eat alot of grains, fruits and veggies. I supplement with potato protein powder and a liquid multi (for B12) and have discovered a neat new food, seitan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seitan). Which I put in a blender with some other ingredients to drink with my meals during the day. I avoid tofu because I have found it contains estrogen. I avoid all soy actually, but I have recently experimented with a seitan/rice milk/blueberry/ginger/protein powder/wheat germ/apple drink (to just name one of three, the other two have different ingredients.).

Any other diet preferences. If you eat pizza and burgers all day that would be a fine comment. Just curious.

I've been eating way too much unhealthy food since my son's birth 20 months ago and have been seriously slacking in the exercice department, so I've put myself on a more healthy diet. I exclude nothing, just eat less of the unhealthy stuff, like pizza and fries, drink water instead of the sweet stuff, fruit instead of chocolate and reduced my alcohol consumption drastically. And I started exercising again ; my physical condition was getting terrible.

You know it's time to take action if the T-shirts you bought last year no longer fit :shame:

That's a good beginning Andres. It is hard to invest in a diet when you have so many other things on your plate! I have put a year into my health and am making headways, still a ways to go however. :)

I binge eat. Absolutely nothing can stop me when it comes to decimating food. And I don't put on weight and am pretty fit. My metabolism is so goddamn high.

Lucky you.

I have lunch and dinner, thats it. No diet, whatever I get served really, though I try to have a fair amount of vegies. I have cut down on my alcohol and kebab consumption as well, which probably helps.

What does this seitan taste like? Because I must say the pictures on wiki page look pretty appetizing.....
Can it be deep fried?

Decimating food means you eat only 1/10th of it no wonder you don't put on any weight

I rephrase:

"I binge eat. Absolutely nothing can stop me when it comes to annihilating food. And I don't put on weight and am pretty fit. My metabolism is so goddamn high."

I sitatred smoking weed again. That's my excuse. That could also be the reason why I eat so much. But that can't be right, because I ate a lot when I was sober too.

Annihilating food means you destroy it completely instead of eating it, no wonder you don't put on any weight.

I used to be the same way. I'd laze around and snack all day and I'd still be really skinny. Now that I'm getting older my metabolism is catching up to me though. I'm still skinny, but I've got a gut. It's not pretty. :on_scare:

I sure do love my mastication.

I usually have some form of meat with salad or veg side then perhaps rice, wheat or potato of some kind to go with it.

I usually pack myself a lunch box when I head off to uni (yes, I stay there for long periods and I want to eat without paying 6 bucks for a 4 inch burrito).

My lunch is usually consists of the following

-Typical ham OR roast beef and cheese sandwich with lettuce and tomato and deli mayo.
-baby carrots
-raisins OR assorted nuts/trail mix
-Banana OR Apple
-Granola bar (for fiber)
-String cheese
-Chocolate pudding for desert.

There are alot of ways to prepare and cook it. Here is a link that might provide some insight. Googling will provide lots of other options! :)

http://www.vrg.org/recipes/vjseitan.htm

It really is quite good. I don't like to spend too much time preparing my meals. So I go for putting it in the blender option.

https://img715.imageshack.us/img715/2939/sweetsourseitan.jpg

Doesn't that look absolutely delightful? It has the texture of meat and will take on the taste of whatever it is prepared in.

I get that if I drink a bunch of them. They've got waaaay too much stimulant, but they're great if you need a boost.

Be a responsible adult and get good cocaine instead if you need a boost, I never ever had any heart problems but these energy drinks I won't touch again

Kerouac

That looks really tempting!
Infact from the recipes on the linked page I think I actually might've eaten this without realizing what I was eating.
A while back I had this spicy and tangy salad which contained what I then thought was cooked sliced beetroot or some such vegetable, but in hindsight I do believe it was this stuff. I'll have to go back to that place and check it out again.

Same here much to the chagrin of everyone I know. Eating heaps of food + not exercising + always staying thin = Jackpot.

My girlfriend is vegetarian so thanks to that I eat quite a number of vegetarian meals. I really quite like it sometimes to be honest. Lots of tomato based sources for various things, as well as risottos. It has nothing on bacon though.

I have energy drinks every day.
Again, same here. I can rarely function properly without them.

as a result caffeine still affects me as it would a child and comes in handy during exams or deadlines.

only time i ever drink energy drinks is when i do redbull and vodka which is literally like playing russian roulette

I always have a Mother. It's so convenient, since almost all train station vending machines sell them.

EDIT: This is me on every train journey to work. By the way, I'm drinking a can, not eating a credit card.

I can't eat uncooked cheese? Well I can, but it makes me feel tremendously sick and I puke almost straight away. Does that count as peculiar? Cooked cheese I can stomach, but I just can't have it raw.

I generally eat 1-2 times a day. I cannot eat til "sated"; I would easily weigh 500lbs if I did that. As such I have remained roughly the same weight since high school some 32 years ago.

I will eat most anything, though I prefer veggies and fish.

My brother is a vegan, so I have a great appreciation for Indian restaurants. The mixture of spice is amazing. I remember one dish that had 4 distinct "cascades" of flavor as it was consumed; simply brilliant.
