Hello,
I'm about to splash lotsa bucks on this:

Yes / No
Plenty fast, but I'm always cautious about these dual-core GPUs. Driver support, profile support, etc. I've always stuck with a fast single card. Feel free to tell me if I'm out of date.

Seconding Lemur's inquiry.

Can you tell me why you need a 690?

Forget gaming... That beast is sexy.
Are there many metal case cards out there these days?
and three dvi ports... Really?

Sexiness solely does not persuade me to get a VGA card -even in women I don't have such taste.
It roughly estimates to 1320$ in Turkey currently and this is a relatively cheap one considering the others in Turkish market.
Wait or just get it already ?

I would wait at least until ATI has a reply to the 690. Chances are they're solution won't be the most expensive card ever made, which is what you are proposing to buy. Hopefully it will be on a par performance wise too. I dunno when it will come out though

I've heard of HD 8000s to be scheduled for towards the end of this year. 6 months of wait is not reasonable in computer market.

Well go for it then. I'd love one of those cards. A warning though. If it is 6 months then the HD8000's are going to be some really nice pieces of kit. I don't want you to suffer from buyers regret.

I can't regret the card. Only the creme-a-la-creme product price scares me.

Highest I theoretically could go would be on my 42'' Panasonic NeoPlasma. I have a 22'' LCD monitor for casual needs (which only has a VGA input).

one 680 should do fine, but i would never stop anyone for living the dream on crazy new tech. ;)

Hrlm.
MSI Twin Frozr GTX 680 (2GB) or any other 4GB GTX 680 ?
I play beefed up Skyrim. I love HD textures. They say while employing 16x AA or with HD-texture-full games, that extra 2GB may come in handy but I couldn't determine how much better ? Is it worth the extra bucks ?

hrrmm.
difficult to say, beefed up skyrim is a killer for video memory, but on the other hand, just read the Hardocp max payne review and maxed out it didn't appear to make much difference to framerate vis-a-vis the 3GB 7970.
id be willing to pay 20% extra for a 4GB 680 over the lowest standard 2GB price, but that's just me.
Seems to me the real audience for maxed-out memory GPUs is flight sim folks (http://forum.avsim.net/topic/350815-cpu-vs-gpu-loads-in-fsx/), but feel free to correct me.
I played skyrim with HD textures on my GTX 460 768MB...
It was playable and not all that slow except for the hickups when you run around and it has to load new textures.
With some lighting and other mods it became more choppy though and I deactivated the HD textures.
It does however make me assume that 4GB aren't really necessary. My old GTX 260 with 896MB would play some games pretty smooth where my 768MB card shows a clear lack of memory. 2GB sounds like a dream to me in that regard. :sweatdrop:

Such idea has been shelved off as, following the shipping of my PC from my hometown to where I currently live, I've been plagued with a series of catastrophic PC problems.
My PC case was wrecked. I bought a Corsair Carbide 500R.
First slot of my motherboard somehow went nuts, replaced VGA to slot 2.
PSU melted 2 weeks on.
Ordered a new PSU (Seasonic X 760W 80+ Gold)
Sick of the neverending problems, having doubted if the whole thing gone faulty, ordered a new motherboard (Gigabyte G1 Assassin), just eventually to find out that Corsair Carbide was small for a XL-ATX mobo.
Ordered a Cooler Master HAF 942.
Despite having changed everything other than the HD 5870 VGA and Core i7 920, still issues were persistent.
Removed VGA and insetrted the backup 9500GT so as to finally see that HD 5870 was wrecked during the transport too.
I'll go for a SLI/CF config with lower gfx cards for now, I guess.
Sorry to hear that LEN.
How did you "ship" your computer? Did you send it via post in a cardboard box or bury it under a lot of other stuff in your car?

The shipment was via a reputable cargo firm. It was a parcel full of other stuff too, and the case was supported with clothes and linens so as to reduce the effects of any impacts. However, the cargo firm accepted the challenge and screwed up my budget.
Also, I couldn't stand the attractivity of a GTX 670 and got myself one. Eager to test S2TW Dx11 full-fledged.
