I know that few play vanilla RTW anymore, but I thought I'd post these screenies for anyone that's read my Guide to Armenia.

This last campaign presented some interesting firsts. I've had an army be attacked twice in the same turn or by multiple armies on the same turn but never 4 times in succession! In this campaign, I guess the Pharaoh took a particular dislike with this general:

This is what was lined up to attempt to crush this army:

That's the faction leader there.

And more:

The aftermath:

My main man there (Kudurmabug of Elegeia) faced down 4 stacks in succession; one with the Egyptian faction leader, another had 10 chariot archers as well as infantry. One other stack was destroyed by the other army you see standing to the east of Kudurmabug in the aftermath shot. Net result was close to 4000 of the Pharaoh's finest sent to walk the Path's of the Dead. Losses for the Padishah of Armenia were about 150 cats in the main stack (fighting on slightly rolling terrain with no hills), and 200 in the eastern stack (although that general only had to fight one stack, he had to charge up this god-awful mountain to get to the chariot archers....hence the higher losses).

After this, the power of the Pharaoh was broken and I rode my two spearheads all the way to the Nile Delta.

Previous to all of this was another oddity....the Big E just mulling around Seleucid territory without laying siege to any city......for over 15 years! Never, ever seen THAT one before. Usually the Egyptians latch on to Seleucid cities like rabid dogs until they are all gone. They never took even a single Seleucid city before I came over the mountains to Tarsus and Antioch. Go figure....

Another first was one of my armies actually pulling off an ambush. Not just once, but three times in the same spot against the Parthians. Unfortunately, I misplaced the screenies for that one....Now I've played barbarian factions plenty of times (their forte is ambushes) and even had generals with an ambusher special, but every time an ambush could occur, the enemy stack managed to evade and get to deploy normally. My general in this case didn't even have an ambusher special, but somehow managed three of them on three successive turns just east of Artaxarta. In each case I got to attack the enemy army deployed in column....Sweeeeeet!

This was so entertaining It got me eager to play some vanilla RTW as well :laugh4: Damn, I usually play factions that don't need to contend with the Yellow Death early on. By the time I get to them, I debark ship after ship of quality stacks and plough right trough their home turf. The cities in the former Seleucid empire are great but not as good as the starting settlements in Africa. Once depraved of those, the pharaoh loses his edge. You truly make Armenia a formidable faction though. If you have the time, I'd like us to try a cooperative SP campaign, if not a true hotseat versus human players.

I would take issue with that:laugh4: Carthage is certainly a jewel for a training center, probably better than anything the Middle East has to offer, but Sidon, Jerusalem, Tarsus, Antioch.....it's hard to find a cluster of cities with such economic power and growth outside of Greece....

I don't make it anything it already wasn't....check out my guide for some detailed musings on how to conduct warfare with them.

Finding time for hotseat games and such is my problem, but certainly if I get some free time, that's be fun.
