I just found this channel on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/user/lindybeige/videos?sort=dd&view=0&page=2 It has videos with theories about how the weapons, shields, armors were used in real war,pros and cons of bow and sling, the historical errors in films etc. I think it is interesting.

The guys videos have been posted here before, while I'm sure a lot of his stuff is good (haven't watched most of it) some of his theories are pretty flimsy, the one about hoplite spears in particular comes to my mind.

This guy is brilliant for sure, but also a real champion at mental masturbation.

About the hoplite spear issue, his pride of "debunker" at all costs make him fail to realize that if sources show both methods were used it simply means... surprise! that both methods were used.

IMHO underarm grabbing is better at taking advantage of the full lenght of the spear, main target the thighs, overarm is better at very close combat, main target the neck. Simple as this.
