Once again France spearheads for the civilized people.
INB4 PJs usual lines of:
There was rampant antisemitism all throughout the continent
The Allies did bad things too
German actions must be looked at in context
Love me some NAZI hunting.
a completely inoffensive name

Strike doesn't care about historical context?
I seem to recall what happened last time someone spoke out against historical context.
If you impose your own morals upon history you will never understand history
Go back to your physics book, knave

Well, Csatary was not German, nor is there any real evidence that he was/is antisemitic. The Hungarians were under incredible pressure to accede to German demands, lest they be occupied themselves - which they eventually were. We know now how that pressure translated down through the royal police both from government and German officials, but you won't read it in the testimony of any of the post-war kangaroo courts. Context is everything, and you know if a man ends up on any Simon Wiesenthal list, it has already been thrown out the window in favor of publicity.
I cannot wait until all these guys are finally dead, taking the The Simon Wiesenthal Centre's raison d'ĂȘtre with them - hunting down old men on other people's dime. :shame:

Well...
We are all the children of our time. Being a good citizen in nazi germany meant being a jew-hating racist.
Does that mean we should stop bringing those who murdered to justice? Not in any way.
But as usual, I'm not a big fan of punishment... The most important thing for me, is that the truth is established. We need to find out what he did, and we as a society(through the courts) need to make it crystal clear that it is not acceptable. I believe that can be done without so much punishment, but I know I am quite in the minority on that. So, punish away!
He will be dead very soon why bother.

The same goes for the police officers who arrested the jews here, but I don't see much reason to exonerate them on that basis.

When it comes to nazis, anyone who isnt stalin, pol pot, the kim family or Vuk can rightfully claim a holier than thou attitude.

So.... You think they are scum? Kinda like how I view those who worked for the nazis.

Not much choice there, but here at least they were a little bit more enthousiastic then they could and should have been. Nobody has clean hands here, a lot of jews were even ratted out by their fellow jews, the 'Jewish Council' actively helped the nazi's with deportations.
I misunderstood your post by the way.

I understand why it happened. Just like I understand why the trial of tears happened. It does not make it any more moral.
You also underestimate a childhood filled with John Wayne movies and a strong anti German sentiment. You know how Churchill had a hard on for America? My family had a hard on for the UK just as bad.
