Got mailed this video, Girl with a new Face, you can find it on youtube, don't feel like posting the various parts as copy-paste on an iPad is a nightmare. Video is full of emo-porn but thing is, she has now a better life than she had. Nice no. But I don't think it's all that nice, even cruel. It's pretty obvious she will never have a normallife, and I think it would be better for her if she had died.

From an evolution standpoint, and the fact that she will probably require lots of charity from others in order to survive and continue treatment, I guess someone could argue to let her die because its better to buy missles or fund BS political and religious agendas.

Yours was also the attitude many had when cleft pallet surgeries were first coming around, and had poor results as the technology and procedure evolved. Now the kids look almost normal, and in third worlds and developing nations those surgeries are done almost 100% through charities.

All life is precious. It's not for us to decide if her life is "worth it". Unless you believe that when you die you come back/go to a better place/regenerate as some do, then this life is what you get. No re-runs, no second chances, this is it. Make the most of it, enjoy yourself, it's later than you think.

Also things happen in life. Fires, accidents, assaults that could chance your physical appearance. No one said that life is fair but at lest you're alive.

She's a very brave lass though. I salute her.

Aren't glasses, hearing aids and other things also "against" evolution? How many people today would have a little or a lot more misery in their lives were it not for some technological or medical advances? Aren't these advances part of our evolution as a species? What about warm clothing during winter?
And where do you draw the line of whether a life is worth living? Isn't it for the person to decide (short term decisions excluded)?

She may still be a child, but if she does not want to live, there are very simple solutions she can undertake to fix that. The more people fund her recovery I think the less likley she will be to take her own life because she knows so many people have a stake in her success, much in the same way that having loving parents and siblings greatly reduced ones chance of suicide. In her case, she is loved by people she does not even know.

Due to her age I guess it was originally up to her parents, not to her, from the very start I suppose. She was not braindead or a vegetable, thoug. And I cannot imagine being told that there is a 1% chance of hope, and then not going double down on the bet. That, apparently, is what parents do. Good ones, at least

Yeah it's up to everyone, but as horrible as it might sound I woud prefer it if they would just kill her. Not in any way of wat she is or could have been. But there is a much more vile cruelty, and that is fixing her to whatever they can do to make her suittable for parties.

I understand where you are coming from. And if it would happen to me, I'd probably jumped tp my death put of the hospital window. But it is'nt me nor is it you. Perhaps she does have the will to live, will you still kill her as her father because she does have suffering? Would you think she's ugly? I wouldn't be able to, unless perhaps if she kept begging me.

It's :daisy: up :daisy:. Morst certainly is. And I wouldn't wish it to anyone. But that's one hard call to make. It is easy for us to say what we'd do. But if you really think about it, you'd know it is not only more than very cold logic which would be very much influenced by others and your emotion, but that such logic even fails to grasp the situation.

I've never understood the thought process that leads someone to suicide, such people must have such a complete and utter lack of hope and joy in their life, I can't understand how you could do it otherwise.

This girl was disfigured by a disease, so what?

She still has two eyes, ten fingers and ten toes, she can still talk. She could go on to become a doctor, or an artist or a great writer. Just because she has a physical deformity doesn't mean she should be consigned to the dustbin.

It's not like exceedingly beautiful people are necessarily happy.
