It is running flawlessly so far. I'm installing BF3. I will update on how it does.

I'd be interested to hear your reflections on Win8 in particular.

I've heard from lots of IT types about how well/poorly they expect it to play in a corporate environment, but strangely, I've yet to hear a gamer's take.

It's alright. You can switch off between usual desktop (Win 7) and this new tablet friendly screen (I never use). I heard it was supposed to improve performance and security so I decided to go with it. It hasn't had an adverse affect on gaming yet.
