Does anyone know what the "Most Advance Faction" message at the start of a turn is all about?

Not 100% certain, but I think this has to do with the average military tech (Barracks) in factions' settlements. By no means is it an indicator of actual military strength.

It often happens that a medium strength faction is the most advanced "techwise", due to it having fewer settlements to build up.

Most advanced faction has to do with who makes the most money each turn. Simple as that. Not sure if it is affected by expenditure for that turn but it is at least based off of who has the highest base income.

So if "most advanced" = most money then
"richest faction" = ?

I was thinking perhaps richest faction could mean which one has the most money saved up, so nothing to do with how much it generated per turn but who actually has the most on that turn, but I seem to get "richest faction" when I'm only pulling in 4 or 5k a turn (after colossal amounts of army/navy expenses).

You are right. The AI is just terrible at saving money. In EB the only faction that seems to save is the Casse.

Are you sure?
I thought it had to do with the amount of buildings you had.

I always thought the most advanced faction, was the one with the largest population XD

Most Advanced Faction triggers after a massive building spree for me. I think it takes Governance/Wall buildings (since M2TW is practically the same) into account, as well as barracks, temples, docks and to a lesser extent others. In M2TW I frequently get it when I get to Large walls + tier 2/3 ports for example. However not only getting them, but having them in numbers is important. You can't be the most advanced faction with only two settlements.

The richest faction takes into account only your existing current treasury at the start of the turn. You can have an enemy that has 3 times your income but is nearly all spent on upkeep, and you have 10000 in the coffers - you're the richest faction.

Largest faction has to do with number of provinces only.

I've always thought it indicated the amount(or worth) of buildings finished this turn. I always get it when I'm well into constantly constructing a building in all of my settlements.
Did anyone actually look into the code to determin this?

I'm 95% sure it has to do with per turn income. I can't remember, is there a production tab?

I always thought it stands for the leading position in the production rating.
