To all you lovely people,

I'm a college freshman now, but back in high school, I was in the Junior Classical League. So in to it, actually, that I attended the national convention two times. My teacher knew I'm good at tests and made me take a lot of them.

It is mostly due to Europa Barbarorum that I won 9th place in the nation on their Hellenic History test two years in a row (2010 and 2011). So, thank you all.

Sincerely,
The Genktarov

Glad to hear you taking classical history to heart. Have you taken this to college?

The love for classical history? Yes. I have one bookshelf in my dorm room. I have an entire shelf of books on classical history.

Is it my major study? Nope. I'm afraid the only major coursework I have a chance of taking that's anywhere close is a course on medieval Russia.

Yeah, I think I've made a couple of threads along this line before so I can't make more, but seriously, EB is amazing. I've always been interested in history but it was reading the awesomely detailed unit/building descriptions (and some of the traits and retinues too) that turned that interest in to a fascination. Hell, I think reading those while the game music plays in the background is more fun than actually playing the game is, especially since they're accompanied by a picture of the unit/building/place/whatever and some music from that culture, you can almost feel like you're actually there. I've been playing it since the very first beta was released in... was it 2006? And I'm still playing it today for at least an hour each day and most likely will be playing it on and off for the rest of my life.

Honestly, if I were rich like Croesus I'd buy all of you who worked so hard on it magnificent estates all around Britain, pay to have each one declared part of my own personal EB empire and let you rule them as satraps. Type II governments for all!

Congratulations to your achievement! :2thumbsup:

EB is indeed great source of knowledge making one thirsty to learn more and "read more history".

I wonder, what about your classmates, Genktarov, are some of them playing EB as well? Have you tried and succeeded in convincing more of them to give EB a try?

It's nice to read these testimonials. The historians on our team have been (the ones who left), and still are (the new ones), some of the most thorough people I've seen. paullus, one of the more active members, got a PhD in ancient warfare f.ex.
I'm sure they will appreciate this once they get to read it. :)

Glad we've been of help in more than an entertaining game. I like that about EB.
