So, as it was my birthday yesterday I have some spare cash and was thinking about upgrading my pc, my spec is:

i7-2600k @3.4 Ghz
8Ghz DDR3 667 MHz Ram
Radeon 5770 Graphics
2 x 500M HDD
Windows 7 64 Bit

Now I need to upgrade at least 1 HDD as my Steam folder is only getting bigger, so I was going to go for a http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/harddrives-internal/sata2tbto2.5tb/wd20ezrx.html

My question is should I go for 16G RAm or a new Graphics card? I'll probably move to Windows 8 soon and I'm also not sure about a SSD for my main HDD.

Any cunning ideas (Cue Hus calling me a noob)?

Get a bigger HDD if you must, a 256GB SSD since you should and proper graphics card since isn't yours kinda old?
I got a GTX 660 and it's really nice (from GigaByte, very quiet cooler on that thing) but a level or two above that can't hurt if you have the money.
Actually it might make sense to buy an SSD once you get a new Windows or reinstall anyway, saves you some hassle.

4? Kk, so RAM isn't an issue. I need the bigger HDD as I hate deleting games I might (might?) play again so the 2TB should sort out my hoarding issues for a while.

That leaves the Graphics card, what do you suggest for about £150, or is it better to wait till I can afford more which isn't likely to be for at least 6 months?

Depends on what you'd expect from gaming. Running the game at a reasonable extent and enjoying it graphically are whole different levels in terms of bucks especially.

If you ask me, regarding an upcoming TWR2, I'd not get anything less than a GTX 670 which, as I browsed some prices over at Amazon.co.uk, looks to be asking more money out of your wallet.

The bottleneck of almost all systems without an SSD are their HDDs, although you'd hardly feel their sluggishness other than booting times. So I'd say the next item in your rig that appears comparably more dated is the graphics card. That's why I've made the suggestion above.

Yes, for gaming a proper video card is certainly more helpful than an SSD.
And I also agree that the GTX 670 is a good card, I would personally never shell out money for a top end card, makes more sense to save the extra money and buy a new mid-to-top-not-really-an-end-card two or three years later since those will most likely be faster than the expensive top-end card you may have bought anyway.

what is your budget?

definately need a new gpu, i'd recommend an nvidia 660 as capable of running with high frame rates at high settings at 1920x1080 (£160)

i presume one 500gb drive is for data? ............ in which case i'd get a sata3 128gb ssd for system and apps, leaving the other 500gb for games (£60)

8gb of memory is plenty, you'll see no advantage from more.
