View Full Version : Human stupidity defined

Ok...
I have always considered myself to be smarter than the average.
Might be because I am self aware and quite honestly brilliant, might be because I am delusional.
That point aside, it scares me when I see human stupidity defined. But oh well, just like any good ol' horrow film I at the same time can't get enough of it ;)
An example: When I on these boards wrote "Ockham's Razor" the automatic spell checker asked me if I didn't really mean Beckham's Razor. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, the worlds biggest search engine assume I must be mistaken when I write the name of a great thinker and not a good sportsman (all respect to Beckham though, not for the wussieball, but for nailing Posh Spice).
So, what set me off on this latest rant?
I tried to write a list on facebook.
B) came off as smiley with sunglasses.
8) came off as smiley with glasses.
Because YES on the worlds biggest communication site we need smileys with assorted kinds of eye-wear more than the ability to write any type of list.
Share your sightings of world stupidity people...

My second greatest sighting of stupidity was when I took more than a passing glance at british politics.
My first was when I took more than a passing glance at every other nation's politics.

You do have to admire the guy who can walk past the 4 attractive Spice girls and dip his wick in the uggo one.
You get the results most people search for, why use a spelling checker anyway. I never do and I know I make mistakes, often hilariously stupid ones, but why should I be able to be able to speak perfect English anyway.
You do have to admire the guy who can walk past the 4 attractive Spice girls and dip his wick in the uggo one.
I would say there were 2 ugly spice girls...but the main point still stands.

EVERYONE defines themselves as "above average". Not just on intelligence, but on almost everything else too, from driving skills to looks.
Face the truth Kadagar - you're just average, like we all are. ~;)

I call bull, you socialistic socialist.
Everyone is different, and some excel in areas others don't, through training and natural ability.
Also, not everyone define themselves as above average, I for one would rate myself a sub standard driver.

Yeah, that's another standard one: we also like to pick a couple of insignificant things so we have something to say we suck at. Apparently, you're a pretty cool guy if you admit to sucking at some things. As long as they're irrelevant.
On most important issues, however, we're all "above average". Just check with every survey ever made which asks people to rate themselves.
Throw your ego in the freezer, kadagar, you're an average person. I'm average too though, so we can be all average together, it'll be superfun! Don't believe the people who scream "we're all special in our own way"; they're just hippies on drugs. Ignore them like you ignore chlamydia.

If the total pool is of everyone of your age group living and dead then most of us should be above average... assuming the least smart have already died off... however the flaw in this is that often the most intelligent are sensitive souls who top themselves off.
Anyhow, I consider myself an average driver, just in my neighbourhood that makes me god like.

Kadagar is smarter than average.
So is HoreTore - unfortunately his brilliance is utterly misdirected.
With Strike, well, he's mostly drunk.
On to the question -
Political commentators who say politicians have set their salaries "just low enough to avoid the top rate of tax"
THAT'S NOT HOW TAX WORKS!

I would reckon most semi-regular posters on this forum are above average intelligence, and they are certainly above average in terms of political awareness.
Ego's aside, now we can get back to some intellectual discussion. Now, Spice Girls Ratings are:
1. Emma Bunton
2. Mel C
3. Ginger Spice
4. Mel B
5. Posh
The top and bottom are miles away from the rest of the pack. Poor call on David's part...
Philippus Flavius Homovallumus

I'd put Mel B above Ginger, to be honest.

Not so fast!
Emma as no. 1? She could only be appreciated if you have the ill fortune of being borne in a country where blondes isn't in abundance. Blonde hair aside, she has that typical English bland face.
1. Ginger Spice
2. Posh Spice
3. Scary Spice
4. Baby Spice
5. Sport Spice
HoreTore, oh you silly you, thinking we are all the same.
There is such an abundance of facts absolutely screaming that you are wrong, so I honestly can't even be bothered sourcing.
You honestly think the work of Alexander the Great could have been done by, say, you? You think the work of Einstein could have been done by me?
You can barely have the backroom respect you, now imagine tens of thousands of hoplites :2thumbsup:

Errrrrrm
No - Emma Bunton is actually cute - Ginger Spice was just plump, and she hasn't aged well. Posh Spice has gone all Michael Jackson - Sporty Spice is actually quite pretty, they just made her dress like a Chave - before there were Chavs.

I was not aware Alexander the Great and Einstein frequented these forums.
Also, Emma was definitely the least doable Spice. Google images seems to imply she's more doable now though.

And I guess Ginger could only be appreciated so much in a country where gingers aren't in abunance.
I was once ginger myself but time has healed me.
And what do you mean Emma has a bland face? Bland in the sense that it is void of skin imperfections and assymetries? Characting-adding wrinkles?! :inquisitive:
I think PVC summed it up with Posh, there is something Michael Jacksony about her. Her facial features are too pointed or something... doesn't look right.

Done that. I could list several mitigating circumstances to justify my stupidity but that's not the point. Sadly then I thought I was intelligent, now I know better.

I always thought that the Spice Girls were the result of some Gentleman's Club bet.
"I'll bet you a million pounds I can take five ordinary looking girls, and make them global sex symbols."
And he did it, fair play. The only one I found moderately appealing was Baby Spice, mainly in an "I could actually have her" kinda way. Though Scary and Ginger did look like dirty little minxes, who could have taught me a thing or two.
I always thought Ginger should have been "MILF Spice" though, probably formed five years too early for that one. Scary should have been "Clearasil Spice". Sporty, "I can actually sing Spice". Posh, "Football Groupie Spice". Baby Spice kinda fits, though apparently she was the real dirty little minx.
At the time I assured my girlfriend I didn't fancy any of the Spice Girls, she thought I was just being a gentleman. Then I told her the things I wanted to do to Shania Twain....
Make her feel like a woman?

Posh spice is weird. I saw a tv interview with her a couple of years ago and all throughout she looked at the monitors, one presumes so that she could see herself in her radiant beauty.
About 15 years ago Mel B came in my shop in Leeds. I didn't recognise her until later on someone told me who she was. She was very down to earth and yes, attractive in a council estate sort of way.
N.B. I was brought up on a council estate in Manchester.

Hadn't really thought of them in years. Was not a fan when they were at their peak.
Looking at the old pictures, I'd have to say that Scary was the only one with enough in the way of headlights on the chassis to suit my infantile bias. The rest seemed forgettably cute.

I have something to confess to you. It's bad. Really, really bad.
The first single I bought was a spice girls single. Not the first one, but their second. Can't remember what it was called. The shame......

My first single was I'm too sexy by Right Said Fred, the second was Do the Bartman.
Might have been the other way around, but they were definitely the first two. I doubt many people can be proud of the first records they buy...

You know, I'm really not sure.
It may actually have been REM's greatest hits, or Meat Loaf's (remember the days before we could upload things to our PC and you actually had to give records back after a break up? No, neither do I, but I do still have 75% of Meat Loaf's back catalogue.)
Do you know, it may actually have been "American Idiot" by Green Day...
