So I started playing MTW2 after a long absence (just reloaded Vanilla, no mods) and it has been fun re-learning how to play the game. Everything came back very quickly and I had to learn a few things I learned the hard way. About 100 turns into a VH/VH game as the English and the only thing I haven't been able to accomplish is to go on a Crusade. I know you have to build a Chapter House and recruit the Crusade Marker etc.....
My problem is I cant remember/figure out how to build the Chapter House. I have multiple levels of churches in various towns/castles. I looked everywhere to try and figure it out. Its not in the building or construction options / queue. Its not on the faction leader or faction overview screens. I spent 15 minutes doing web searches and looking at every possible screen without any success. The Pope has called multiple Crusades and I know that the English should be able to build a Chapter House, I just cant figure it out.
I feel like an idiot asking but how do you build a Chapter House? Screen shots may help. Thanks in advance.

AFAIK chapter houses have nothing to do with churches.
All info should be here: https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?75649-Daveybaby-s-Guide-to-Guilds
IIRC you get points for a chivalrous family member in the city and you get also points for joining a crusade.
EDIT: Checked it and this is what it says
Crusader Knight's Chapter Houses
These four chapter houses have been grouped together since they are very similar in requirements and in what they produce.
These are castle based guilds providing the ability to train the various types of crusader knights (heavy cavalry units). The St. Johns Chapter House series give an additional settlement health bonus.
Templars Chapter Houses are restricted to catholic factions only (excluding HRE, Spain and Portugal).
St. John’s Chapter Houses are restricted to catholic factions only (excluding HRE, Spain and Portugal).
Teutonic Knights Chapter Houses are restricted to the HRE only.
Knights of Santiago Chapter Houses are restricted to Spain and Portugal only.
To attract these guilds, join crusades, and hold provinces in lands bordered by non-catholic factions.
Trained Units:
Upgrades to the guild level increase the recruitment rate, and the increase the maximum number of units in the recruitment pool, from 3, to 4, to 6.
The Templar’s Chapter House series allow training of Knights Templar.
The St. John’s Chapter House series allow training of Knights Hospitaller.
The Teutonic Knights’ Chapter House series allow training of Teutonic Knights.
The Knights of Santiago Chapter House series allow training of Knights of Santiago.
To Gain Crusader Knight’s Guild Points:
General joins crusade: +25 all settlements
General abandons crusade: -25 all settlements
Recruit Specialist Knight: +10 settlement, +1 others (knight type tied to guild type)
Governor Chivalry >4: +5 settlement (per turn)
St. John's guild get a +10 settlement, +1 others bonus when the settlement has muslim neighbours (for each settlement, each turn)
St. John's guild get a +10 bonus for all settlements when you declare war on a muslim faction.
Teutonic guild get a +10 settlement, +1 others bonus when the settlement has pagan neighbours (for each settlement, each turn)

DF - Thanks for the response. But I am not talking about the Guild type faction specific Chapter Houses that allow you to recruit the higher level knights. I am looking for info on the basic Chapter House that you need to build in order to go on a Crusade. IIRC it should be available in the Construction queue just like any other building, but unless I am going blind its not there.
I may just start a new game and hope that it was a bug.

I don't think you need to build anything. I started a campaign with Sicily and I didn't build anything. I added a lot of money to bribe the pope make a gift to the pope to have better relations and asked a crusade to Antioch (next to your pope-o-meter on the pope scroll.)
Then I gathered 8 units together with my general in one stack. Then (and I think that is your question) I went to the mercenary tab and you can click at the left bottom of the scroll on the join the crusade-icon. Then you can join the crusade (is that an answer to your question or am I still way of?)
I had screenshots but my internet is rubbish today so I can't get them uploaded. :wall:
Going on a Crusade in M2TW:
1. Make sure you are not excommunicated (bribe the Pope to get to call the Crusade yourself. As England, Cordoba makes a good target)
2. Get a general and 8 units, and click "join crusade" once it's been called. If you ask the pope to call it, you can do it in the same turn.
3. Recruit the special Crusade mercs and go a conquerin'

That was it. I think I was confused with the old system in MTW, I just remember taking a cross and adding troops to it or dragging it to the Crusade target. Thanks.
BTW - Sicily stabbed me in the back when I was allied to the Pope, requested a Crusade and then taught them a lesson. Enjoy.

I've also found that being at War with Muslim nations and having as many alliances with Christian nations as possible will help grow your Reputation, along with churches if bribing isn't you route of choice
