Looks like the name labels might be dynamic, like on Google Maps. Or do you think that's just the artwork and it'll be replaced in the game?

I wonder if the map tells us anything about the factions in terms of difficulty.

4 - Rome
4 - Carthage
3 - Macedon
1 - Iceni
1 - Arverni
1 - Suebi
1 - Parthia
6 - Egypt
2 - Pontus

I suppose having more towns doesn't necessarily mean having an easier / more difficult start. Probably won't hurt your economy though.

I suppose it also depends on how balanced each city/province is at the start of the game. Realistically, I would expect Rome or Carthage to be much larger and advanced than any barbarian capital, but for gameplay purposes they may make them relatively equal.

After doing an extremely quick and rough count of the visible provinces on that composite, it's really hard for me to imagine there being "183 territories, which in turn will be divided into one or more smaller provinces" as Wikipedia indicate. It also says there will be 117 different factions, which seems far from likely.

I do hope that some of the rather obvious mistakes and strange settlement choices get corrected. I'm starting to believe the old RTW vanilla map might have been more accurate.
