View Full Version : Problem with uploading pictures to the forum

I seem to be having problems with uploading pictures to the forum recently.
I go to Albums - Upload Picture. then the Upload Manager appears and I can search my PC and select the file.
Then I hit the Upload button. The little circle appears in the right top corner of that window and keeps turning. But nothing else happens (for 3 minutes for a 147 kb JPEG file, which should not take all that long). I think in the past there used to be a green status bar increasing to 100% within seconds.

This has been happening for a couple of days now. Not sure if it is something that can be addressed at the forum of if it is a problem at my PC's end (had a recent update of my Explorer forced upon me by Microsoft, grrr).

Any help would be appreciated.

Personally, I just use a mix of Imgur and Photobucket. The Org picture feature has always felt a little undercooked.

However, this seems like more of a Watchtower question, so I will move it to the appropriate sub-forum.

This is likely related to your browser change. Make sure javascript is enabled, and try disabling any pop-up blocker you might have to see if that helps.

Well, if I insert image to my post rather than uploading it to my Album, I can at least have a small version of the image.

Other than that, my popup blocker is disabeld and I have something in my Add ons saying
Java (tm) Plug-In 2 SSV Helper is active, but uploading that picture to my Abums still does not work.

And now I managed to drag the image into my Album and it seems i can also insert the full picture.

Ok, so perhaps this is the way it was meant to be done anyway and I was just too stupid ..... ;-)

Talking about uploads, I have a lot of savegames from old Hotseat games from the Throne room.
Is it possible for me to delete them from the org? It just feels they are taking up space for something that is no longer needed. Or would we prefer to keep them uploaded?

Do you mean upload it without having it re-scale, or so that you don't get the double "attached thumbnails" thing at the bottom?

I mean so that I dont get the double "attachment thumbnail" at the bottom.

See also my post in this thread, where the issue actually appeard.

A slightly related topic:
Can I upload a picture and a (savegame) file to the same post, or can each post only have 1 upload?

I'm pretty sure that only happens when you insert an attachment while editing a post. I'm not sure exactly why it happens, but I think you can remove the thumbnail by editing the post. Edit Post -> Go Advanced -> Manage Attachments -> Delete the attachment you don't want the thumbnail for.

You should be able to put up to 24 attachments in a post, I don't think it matters if they are of a different type.

Cool, that did the trick.

Also, I was able to add the savegame file to the testpost using the same "Manage Attachments" feature.
Many thanks, TinCow.
