Greetings all!

I was wondering if I could request help from the forum users in identifying specific parts of classical literature.

I am currently working on an article examining the trade of animals, in particular high status creatures (exotic animals, war mounts, elephants, highly prized examples) during the Iron Age, Hellenistic and Roman periods and was wondering if people might be able to point out some specific examples of this kind of trade and exchange in the works of classical authors?

If you can suggest any examples, complete with page reference and author, I would be extremely grateful.

Thanks

If Plinivs and/or Theophrastos have nothing on that, I wouldn't know where else to look for it...
Perhaps Strabon has recorded something about it too...

Unfortunately I haven't read their works completely and can't think of a precise passage :S

Maybe in google books, typing the specific area/animal/culture, you might find a modern author covering it...

academia.edu probably has articles about it, hopefully viewable :P

Do you need trade examples or gift giving?
