Storm's End [Concluded]

Storm's End is one of the strongest castles in the Seven Kingdoms. It is the main seat of House Baratheon, and before it, the ancestral seat of the Storm Kings extending back many thousands of years. The castle is said to be protected by spells woven into its very walls that prevent magic from affecting it or passing through it.

Lord Robert Baratheon took the majority of the Stormland forces with him. He left his younger brother, Stannis, and a small garrison to hold Storm's End. Following Robert's defeat by the Tyrell host at the Battle of Ashford, driving Robert away from his base of power, the Tyrell host advanced directly on Storm’s End, laying siege to it.

Two hundred and eighty three years after Aegon's landing, the small force of Stannis Baratheon sits in the fabled castle of Storm's End besieged by the huge Tyrell host whilst his brother takes to the field to take back Lyanna and depose the Mad King Aerys II. Stannis was ordered to hold Storm's End, and so he shall, until the end.

Welcome to another mafia game, based upon the events of Robert's Rebellion, specifically the siege of Storm's End (from G.R.R.M's series A Song of Ice and Fire).

Rules:
•24 hour days and 24 hour night phases. Phases may be extended if needed and if I require.
•You may talk after death. However, no out of thread info, etc. No "I can't say why, but lynch 'x'." If you do so, I will first give a warning, then ban you from talking. This may change depending on how many players I get.
•Don't quote anything I say to you, however, paraphrasing is fine. Don't discuss the time of PM's, or the length or writing style, as it means nothing.
•No screenshots, etc.
•You may talk to players outside the thread.
•You will vote for players you want lynched during the day, using the format, Vote: Visorslash. Votes must be in bold to count. If you wish to unvote, simply: Unvote; Vote: ATPG. You don't need to do a semicolon, I just think it looks nice.
•If you are replaced or WOG killed, please do not post in the thread anymore unless it is an apology. If you are replaced by choice, please don't comment in the game.
•If you think you won't be around during the night phase to give your night action, you can always PM me your night actions in advance.
•Votes that end in a tie, no lynch.
•No lynch is allowed.
•Don't edit posts with votes. I won't count them. Feel free to misrepresent the tally, I do my own anyway. If I can be convinced otherwise, I will change the rule.
•This game will have roles.
•If you miss three day phases in a row or 4 in total with any reasonable excuse or informing me why you will be WoG'ed. No exceptions for role.

Hate to double post/bump my own thread, but a final piece of information before the game starts:

The game will start tomorrow regardless of how many players have signed up. However, depending on the amount of players, the scum team/town power roles will change accordingly.

Possible setups:

Mafia (members don't know each other) and some neutrals

If there is a cult, there will be restrictions, etc to not make the game unbalanced. Every faction will get a chance to suceed.

Begin Day 1

Stannis ground his teeth. The banners of Tyrell and Redwyne flapped in the breeze outside the fabled castle. No doubt they were feasting even now on all manner of delicacies whilst his men starved. He turned away from the walls and began to walk back to the keep. The Onion Knight had brought them much needed supplies, but onions did not replace anything of substance. "M'lord!" was the call from Davos Fleabottom. The man was a smuggler, but he had also saved them from eating the dead, he was certainly an interesting man. "There's talk of surrendering in the garrison. Some of the men think they're better off with the Tyrells." Stannis' teeth clenched as he heard the news. "Find them and bring them to me, I'll give them to their Tyrells, though not in the manner they intend." he said with a gesture to the catapults near the walls. Davos nodded and went off to tell the garrison about the traitors.

Cressen had warned him of this, and now it had happened. There wasn't much you could do to stop it though, almost a year of low supplies whilst the enemy feasted outside the gate would drive men to forsake their vows. Still, traitors must be punished, and the punishment would be death.

They obviously had no idea. "Come back tomorrow and we'll do this again, and there had best be results." Stannis walked off back to the castle. Mace Tyrell had sent yet another letter asking Stannis to dine with him. Stannis crushed it into a ball and threw it away. Mace throught himself a sound tactictian, yet he sat here with a massive host doing nothing. The fool thinks he can win against Robert by feasting. Well so be it. Soon enough he will be feasting his eyes on the dead traitors. Stannis would see to that.

End Night 1

The cook, commonly known amongst the garrison as Riedquat was busy preparing what little food they had for the next day. Meals had to be portioned, drink had to be rationed, and he was in charge of it. Which is why when he heard the footsteps in the kitchen he turned around to yell at the intruder that no-one has business in the kitchens. The words died in his mouth as he saw the intruder carry as crossbow. Instead he asked, "Killing the cook? Gods be good man, have you lost your wits? You want to kill the cook, who keeps everyone alive? Stannis is no idiot, run along before I report you." the false bravado washed over deaf ears as the killer approaches him. "Get in the oven old man."

"Do you take me for a fool? Kill me now and be done with it you bastard. The Seven will judge you accordingly."

The crossbowman considered his options for a few seconds before firing the quarrel in between the eyes of the cook. At that range he was unlikely to miss, and the bolt ripped a bloody hole. The cook gargled blood as he fell to the floor, his life over.

"Put your stick up, I fancy a bit of training. Always a good time to pratice." the man turned around to see a Sargent standing there. He tossed the man a sword and he grabbed it. Before he could think to swing, the man was on him, hammering blows left and right. He stood no chance, the blows reeling off until he fell to the ground. "I yield, I yield!" he shouted, covering his head.

"A shame, better luck next time then!" the sargent said with a glimmer in his eyes.

Sleep came difficult to the men of Storm's End. Especially those asked to betray their leaders. He held the paper rose in his hand. He had unfurled it, only to note what was asked of him. Stannis was a hard man. He knew the Tyrells were less so. Maybe if they knew he had helped them, he might get a lordship or at least a knighting. That would be good. He would have something for his kids to uphold. A man does what he must for his children. With a heavy heart, he threw the rose into the fire, and walked out into the night to meet with the man. It was the right thing to do, wasn't it? End the siege for all? He did not know, yet he walked on, the choice was made.

End Day 2

Maester Cressen, known around the garrison as Makrell for his fondness of fish was the chosen target for today. Stannis was stunned. Did they really think his own maester was plotting to betray him? Stannis didn't believe so, but they had chosen, and he must now do what was necessary. As he prepared to load the maester into the catapults, he asked for a word. With the calmness of a man who knows his fate is unavoidable, he told Stannis that throwing him into the Tyrell horde was a bad idea. Who knew how long the siege would last, and it would be better to keep him in the dungeon. Remaining rations were low and there was no need to waste good meat. Stannis saw his opportunity to keep Cressen alive and he took it, banishing him to the dungeons.

"You fools must choose better. Cressen was a good man, honest and loyal. I will await your choice on the morrow." he said walking off the walls, teeth clenched.

End Night 2

Jarema decided tonight would be his rest night. He would keep up his strength so that he could he could have the strength to fight more traitors. Stannis was the commander, and he knew that Stannis was a just man. He would reward his faithful servant. Faith does not stop a sword through the neck however, and in the morning, the body of Jarema was buried, along with his meager belongings. The maester would normally say the words, or sometimes the priest. Stannis had no maester anymore however, Cressen being put in the dungeon. So it was with an awkward speech and poor wording, that Stannis Baratheon sent off the sargent to join the Seven.

Not many words were said today. The morale of the garrison was low and the food levels even lower. In the end they settled on LazyMcCrow with a measly two votes. Stannis was furious, ths was not how they were supposed to vote. They would never defeat their enemies if they let them run amok. Still Stannis was true to his word, and Lazy was executed that night. His belongings proved that he had no real traitorous leanings. Yet another wasteful death. He was leading a garrison of incompetent fools who couldn't even vote to save their life.

End Night 3

Darth Feather hated being a mortician. Not only did he hate the smell of dead bodies, there was also the look, and feel. He hated having to study the cadavers, but it was the only trade he knew. He blamed his father for that, there was an opening, and he was thrown into it, any coins for the family were good coins. Well his father was gone, and the coins were now his. Not that it changed much, though the dead often held trinkets and secrets. Still he made no secret of his displeasure.

When the crossbowman arrived at the scene he knew his time was up. He fought, as would everyone would, but the man with the crossbow was deadly accurate and he never stood a chance. He joined the corpses he hated in life, in death. Sometimes you just couldn't escape your work, no matter how hard you tried.

The Rose was angry. His convert had been killed. That wouldn't matter though, as he had a plan. Another convert, another flower, another rose in the garden. Eventually they would strangle all other life. And that would start now.

B-Wing had an important duty. As Captain of the Guard it was his job to ensure his men were onside and keeping morale high. His job was invaluable in keeping the garrison in order. Unfortunately for him, tonight was the night chaos struck. As he paced around the barracks floor, the man with a crossbow was once more ready to strike. He approached the Captain, who didn't look particularly shocked at this turn of events. They shared a look, then with a cry, the Captain charged, pulling his sword out of its scabbard. The first quarrel took him in the chest but it was not enough to stop the charge. The captain ran past with his blade swinging wildly at the crossbowman to miss. He then slipped in and ripped a jagged line across the Captain's neck, leaving him to bleed out.

Hard decisions would need to be made.

The Rose smiled. Another member of the cause. There was no way he could fail now.

Stannis decided on ceremony today. He had two blocks brought out. Today, the traitors would get their just desserts. Treason was treason, and the punishment was death. To the garrison's surprise both White_Eyes:D and SalmonSoil were brought to the blocks.

"You may be wondering why I brought both of them here. I hope to show the rest of you what happens to traitors. We have held Storm's End for far too long to give in to treason." he turned to look at the two men, one with a resigned look on his face, the other with a grimace. "Last words?"

SalmonSoil spoke up. "You kept me prisoner, if you didn't expect this you're as stupid as you are ugly." he spat at the ground as the headsman cracked his face with the butt of the axe.

If you look at the first couple write-ups and this one, I'm pretty sure "The Rose" (White_Eyes) was the original cult "leader". I think we do have one cult member left,

I used my ability on edse on night 4, and there hasn't been a conversion since then, so he's not a cult convert.

Curio tried to cast a vote yesterday that would have lynched White_Eyes, so I'm 90% sure he's not cult.

Top suspects for cult for me at this point are El Barto and Chaotix, because they weren't on White_Eyes on Day 5 and aren't cleared by my ability. I'm dosing El Barto tonight, so unless I've misunderstood my role ability, he'll be non-cult by tomorrow if no one blocks me.

Priority now needs to be finding the killer. Top suspect for that seems to me to be GSC. Our roleblockers have proven their ability, HopAlong saw actions that we know were taken by a number of people, and edse, El Barto, and I have all been blocked. Unless the killer is able to ignore role-blocks or can kill and do something else, it seems to me like it has to be GSC.

Chaotix ordered to approach the gallows. Stannis had decided to hang this traitor, who had laid his claims quite bare for all to see. Ser Gawen Wylde, the man at arms had a big smile on his face as he ordered the man up the stairs with his sword. Today was a good day for him. He loved hanging traitors. As he hung the noose around Chaotix's neck, he burst out laughing. Stannis frowned, "What could possibly be funny about a hanging?" he asked.

"It isn't the hanging my lord that I'm laughing at." he said as he kicked the chair under Chaotix's legs.

"It's you."

With that, Edse and El Barto drew their crossbow and sword respectively. Stannis looked around at his two remaining garrison members, Ibn-Khaldun, his jailor and Davos Fleabottom, his saviour. Davos cursed and drew his sword and the Jailor ran off.

With a smile, Edse fired a shot at Davos, missing by an inch as Davos realised the fight was lost. He ran off to follow the jailor.

El Barto and BSmith cornered Stannis, who was clearly outmatched. "You'll cede lordship of Storm's End to me, Cape Wrath to El Barto and Edse will remain my trusty companion. With a high payrise of course. Now, you'll be wanting to agree to these terms, as the alternative is your death. After all, when you play the game of thrones, you either win, or you die. Maybe we'll let you be a lord under us, or maybe you'll take the black instead. I hear they need men on the wall. Choice is yours."

Ability: Smugglers are careful men and ones who like make sure that they can trust men to have their backs. Every night you may bring an extra portion of food and some words and promises to a person to ensure they are loyal to Stannis. If they are a new cult recruit they will turn back to townie alignment. Otherwise you will prevent the person from being recruited that night.

Personal Goal: Bring back a cult member using your ability. You will not know if you have suceeded until after the game.

Alignment: Cult
Ability: The Rose is skilled in deception. Each night you may leave a letter in someone's bed detailing that if they help you, the Tyrell's will be sure to reward them and that if they decide to show up at the well by midnight, you will know their loyalty. Only certain people will accept however. You can send letters every second night. However, your party cannot be more then three, otherwise the stink of traitor will be too large for the guards to ignore and they will crack down hard. If your letter is refused, you cannot act the following night. (For example, if you send it night 1 and it is refused, the guards will be on high alert, therefore you cannot perform any abilities the next night (this goes for everyone in your group. If someone fails an action, the whole group must be silent for the next night).

However, your new babes in arms may not be particularly loyal. I suggest not revealing your identity to them unless you make them members of your garden. A new recruit has no abilities, however a flower does. Making a new recruit a flower takes two nights, and lots of persuasion. However, you can be sure they are loyal.
Victory: Convince enough people that the Tyrells will be lenient to open the gate to let them in.
Personal Goal: Never have more then two members in the cult.

And a few more things:

Sorry to White Eyes, I could've balanced the cult a bit better, but you did well with it.
Sorry to BSmith and WE:D for mixing your roles up.
I heavily hinted in the writeup that the town needed the last cult member, because otherwise I feared they would think the game was over when the cult was lynched.
I did mention the setup on the first page.
The prisoner was a balancing role.
I know the game was unbalanced, but I don't believe it was to the point where no faction had a chance.
I probably could've done better writeups, and extended phases over the weekends.

There's probably a few more things, but that's it for now.
