Lucky for him there is a third type of football plus a fourth, fifth and sixth. :smoking:

Very funny clip.

At least beIN Sports didn't get the EPL contract as well. That would have been the repeat of the NHL's deal with SportsChannel America back in the 80s. beIN has the rights for just about every other league in Europe and the CONCACAF WC qualifying games, which means most of the US is now locked out. If the Qataris are going to blow gobs of oil money to get the rights, you would think they wouldn't mind paying off the cable companies to at least host their frikkin' channel. ~

If I was the Qatar investors I'd give the first couple of seasons free and get a fan base going.

Then I'd pull a Fox and split up all the comps across channels and make one a pay for view.

The fan base was already there. The EPL, Ligue 1, and Serie A were all on Fox Soccer, while La Liga and the Bundeliga were on GolTv. In 2012 beIN bought up all but the EPL and Bundesliga, and the EPL went to NBC this year. Fox Soccer is shutting down, while GolTV might survive (it has South/Central American leagues as well). beIN is only available through satelite, which means very few people get it. I hope the teams like the money from the TV contract, because their merchandise sales are going to take a big hit.
