Hello,

Did the Romans ever employ Auxilia Swordsmen on the battlefield? Similar to RTW's 'Auxilia' who wield a spear, but instead a sword?

Auxilia were nothing but non-roman contingents, who armed themselves according to their native warfare traditions...
Keltic or Sarmatian ones would definitely have what the Romani called Spatha in those days. This doesn't mean all of them were equipped in the same manner ofc...
Still footmen's main weapon always was a spear, swords served as sidearms...

A perfect example would be the Batavi or the Bosporan troops...
