Does any of you know of any documentaries on natural disasters? I'm looking for a documentary which shows both the forces of nature and the impact on the population living there(like interviews with survivors), but without the "Hollywood effects" of discovery channel...
The reason I'm asking is that my class is entering the Lego League (http://www.firstlegoleague.org/) which this year is about natural disasters. I think a good documentary would be a good kick-off to their project, giving them an insight into what living through a disaster is about(something they're clueless on).

Try goggling: documentaries on hurricanes, tornados, earthquakes and so on.
I am sure you will come up with what you need.

Your diary should do
Sorry Frags, but you are clearly off your game. This doesn't measure up. Rushing it a bit?

Now you sound like my first wife

I thought it was a good one personally. Just because it's different doesn't mean it isn't love

I've watched a ton of crap over the last days(discovery channel and its ilk can burn in hell), so I'm having more than a little difficulty finding a good one. Thus, I came to the wise men of the backroom for help...

Well, then try C-SPAN. It covers the US government, particularly Congress. That is always and ongoing disaster series.
(Actually you might get lucky and their video library might actually have something on storms or what ever.)

I lol'ed.
Had a look through it, but nothing came up. I've only been able to find two kinds of documentaries; crap ones who rely and "oh-so-cool" special effects and graphics plus extremely bad acting and good ones who are purely political...

Sorry then!
I know there were some good documentaries on one of the earthquakes that hit Mexico in pre-internet, pre-reality TV times, but I have not had a need to look for them and don’t know the names anymore.
Sorry!

Have you checked the CBC?
I have no idea what they have available on-line but the catalog should be huge; they have been documentaries doing since the organization was founded.
