View Full Version : Anyone else getting unplayable siege battles?
Before patch 7 went live, it was kind of easy to deal with, occasionally it happened, occasionally it did not but ever since it did go live, I can't play sieges involving walls or reinforcing AI navies. The game will just lock up everyon 5 seconds for a few seconds while all interface things are still responsive. FPS remain constant throughout the entire time... the game just stops moving and then starts again and then stops again and then starts again, kind of like network lag.

Hmm, I used to have this before patch 3. Then, they seemed to have fixed it. By any chance, was your campaign started before patch 3?

Same problem with AI reinforcing navies. It wasnt completely unplayable, but I was getting about 10-15 fps. Though that might have also been because there were 13,000 people in the battle.
I've noticed that my FPS go to hell when I encounter massed AI flamed javelins in siege battles. Otherwise, things seem fine.
Also, lately I have started to uncheck the affinity for core 0 (do it for the rtw.exe process, after launching the game). This has noticeably improved performance and the game runs much smoother.
Here is a link to an article explaining how to do that: "Change processor affinity (http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/windows-and-office/change-the-processor-affinity-setting-in-windows-7-to-gain-a-performance-edge/)"
It has nothing to do with FPS. My FPS stay constant throughout the entire battle. The battle just stops moving, as if someone pushed pause every few seconds.
I used to have this issue but they remedied it some time past. I'll report if I encounter it again.
