It's basically the same time period as EB but in real-time. There is an intriguing campaign concept similar to Total War, though. Overall, it seems pretty historically accurate, except for some glaring errors (such as Persians contemporary with Seleucids). It has good graphics but can get extremely laggy sometimes. Just bear in mind it is in early alpha. And most importantly, it's free.

I remember reading on the website that this is intentional, they named the game "0 A.D." because it's not set in any specific time period, just antiquity in general.

It's a nice game, but has been in development for 13 years years and is still an alpha release. I've played it some years back, can't remember what version...

I don't seem to remember poor performance, though I built from source and ran it on Linux so perhaps that has something to do with it.

The game however is nothing like TW, or any turn based game, it's an RTS game and involves the usual clickfest arms race and base building. I have limited gaming experience, but it reminded me of something like stronghold.
