Unit Base Strength? [Archive]

I am sorry to be a bit of a thicky but on reading the stats of units there is a reference to the units base strength .............what is it?.........explain please?

Default unit size(number of men) I think.

Thank you for answering but I'm not sure if that is correct. Here are a few examples:

Type men in unit Base strength
Woodsman 60 1
Urban Militia 60 21
Feudal Sergeants 100 27
spy 1 80
billmen 60 1
lancers 40 80

I'd like to know too. The numbers are not really consistent, so I am wondering if it is a deprecated value.

e.g. Trebuchets have a base strength 1000, which is way, way out of whack with other artillery. Many units have a base strength close to their size, while other have a base strength of 1 for no apparent reason.

Since nobody has been able to tell me what the stat is and it seems to have no discernable effect, I've been ignoring it.

Maybe one of the devs can help us

Well now you have me interested

I remember seeing some strange calculations in the patch readme regarding unit strength, Im at work and cant access the readme-- you might check the patch readme and see what those calculations refer to.

1000 for trebuchet? thats just whaky.

Also you might try asking MizuYuuki (Puzz3d). He knows a good deal about unit stats.

Thanks Dionysus9 for your reply even Lord Krazy was not sure on this topic. I hate it when you read unit stats but nobody has the faintest idea what base strength means. They all quote it but can't explain it.............SIGH
