"We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his virtual blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile
This day shall gentle his condition:
And Gamers everywhere, now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us during the Medieval 2 Total War Re-release Party."

(apologies to Shakespeare, modified from Henry V)

Now if you will excuse me, I have a campaign to start. :bow:

I'm firing up a new campaign tonight as I've just finished my first campaign ever as England, and it was glorious.

I started an HRE campaign. England was tempting, but decided to go with my ancestry. It is going slow so far just trying to take in everything at once.

I went super slow at first, I liked it that way, took the island itself and then some stuff near by on the mainland held by rebels, then settled down for a bit to build stuff up.

I'll admit as a result I probably messed about a bit too long in the middle game, but man I had a good time doing it.

HRE should be fun, they are in a location where they are bound to run into some "interesting" times eventually and you have some choices about which way to expand.

I'm mulling it over as we speak who will be next, I'm thinking about those silly french speaking people because so far I'm taking a very monty python approach to my selection process, the new twist this round will be that I will play out the battles, which last time I most auto-resolved.

Amusingly this will no doubt slow me down even further and I was already glacially slow at like 75 or so hours of play time completing my first campaign. Like I said, I'm never in much of a hurry in this game, took me like 100 hours to complete the initial Rome 2 campaign back when you had to take like 130 or more provinces, it was like being asked to conquer the entire freakin map, haha.

Anyway, we need to keep coming back here with updates of course, keep the conversation going and provide me with ppl I can peppered with questions!
