I was going to carry out a pillage raid over some enemy territories, to burn all facilities and withdraw quickly leaving them with naked soil only.
However such meticulous plan turned me mad when I found out those abandoned provinces are still considered as mine and it was only a matter of time for rebels to appear there after my forces withdrawal... This way I founded my enemies some strong armies, abolutely free, which next invaded my lands and destroyed my young state.
Such "rebel" armies, composed of the best units, not peasants, completely unbalanced relations between our forces in the war theatre.

Why rebel armies are so numerous and of so good quality ones?
And is any way for such pillage campaign I planned ? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I agree, rebel armies can suddenly appear with a huge professional army, that is better than my own

unfortumately, that is what you get for the slash and burn tactic. what really gets me is when a loyalist army spawns. giving more men to the guy you are trying to huirt is a real pisser.

This is what I'm trying to do to the insanely strong Elmos in my current game, it wouldn't bother me if the loyalist rebellions were composed of peasant type units like they should after you've destroyed everything, but giving him free armies composed ENTIRELY of royal knights kinda sucks http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif

In my 2 campaigns since the patch the rebels are better than the factions. I have seen the russians get beaten twice by rebels so far. The rebels even tech up better than the factions, i've seen the rebels with 3-4 castles while every faction except me is still at keep level.

btw the funniest i have seen is knights templar in a muslim rebellion.

C.A. should correct this in a patch.

the upside to the high level rebels is that they are easily bribable. mabey next time i need a quick army i will let a province revolt and buy them out. that one WILL give me peasnts, archers and some spears.

I really like the rebellions-- and I am very happy that they were "beefed up" in the patch. I even created a mod (MOYA) that makes the rebellions stronger. (MOYA 2 is currently in development)

Why? Because I like the game to be historical. I don't want the Egyptians conquering England (bloody likely&#33http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif. If you read the history of the time, rebellions were constant, brutal and drained the resources of every king on the map. More rebels = more realism, IMHO.

Well, You're probably right about rebellions in the mentioned period, however I do not suppose such uprised forces were composed of good quality troops. I would accept even numerous rebels, but kind of peasant/woodmen etc...

BTW: It seems to be better solution not to wipe out any faction, but leave it weak with the last poor province instead. Why - because in some years a self-appointed successor may uprise in many lands belonging to your "empire", each one with army of 2k heavy armoured troops, cavalry and other hard staff. In the early period none (except maybe Byzantine Emperor) cannot afford many armies consisting sophisticated expensive types of troops to stand such opportunity.

YES - it should be changed in a patch:
1) Rebels should be peasants' initiative.
2) In destroyed and abandoned province rebels appearing shold be just neutral...
3) Above mentioned "independence revivals" are OK, but forces should appear in only one province, others could join after some time when the rebellion would flood in the neighbourhood not fought by the king.

Actually, I use the same tactic with your. I don't mind to see such a big loyalist army behind me. The point is that those faction has to pay for supporting those armies too. So, they do not have money left to rebuild their provinces too. The point is I hope your opponent is aggressive as mine. Then they will attack you and drain out thier army before you have big enough to do the counter attack and capture that land.
