View Full Version : Creative Assembly Mongolian language?
If you play the mongolian historical campaign in medieval you will here that the mongols are speaking latin (or was it arabic). I havent played mongol invasion but dont the mongols speak mongolian in that game? Why cant they use that for the mongols in medieval if so?

Xer0 get Shogun WE/MI and download the statswapper3 which lets you play using different stats. Then try a Mongol game on Toda's 105 stats. Terrific fun and better than any MTW offering. The beauty is that in MP you can choose Mongols v Mongols.
Highly recommended http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Hi
In MTW the Mongols speak Latin
The devs did a great job of the Arabic spoken by Muslim factions in SP, but I wonder why the Mongols cannot have STW/MI commands. At least that would make it even more awesome.
Also in MP all factions revert to Latin in battle. So you have the Egyptians issuing orders in Latin. LOL
I think it would be awesome to have new voice sets for the following factions in their repective languages:
1. Turkish for the Turks
2. Mongol/Chinese (STW/MI import) for the Horde
3. VERY IMPORTANTLY thses language sets should apply to MP as well
Does anyone know why everyone speaks Latin in MP ?

Maybe it is because it shouldnt take so long time to load when you are playing multiplayer.

Are the voices saved as wavs? Ha, if so...you could make them speak whatever language you wanted to, and say what you wanted to as well http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

The voices are saved as WAVs, so yes, you can do what you like in terms of replacing them.
Why are there only three voice sets (Catholic, Muslim, and Orthodox)? Basically, the expense and difficulty of voice casting. And a little bit of disk space. It's not easy finding good voiceover artists within a budget. Getting a new set of relevant samples recorded just for one faction's use wasn't worth the expense. Granted, it sounds a bit strange, but the Mongols aren't a playable faction, so hopefully it isn't a big deal.
If money wasn't something to be borne at least slightly in mind when producing a game of this scale, then I expect we could have gone to the trouble of finding voice talent relevant to each faction...

doesn't bother me i cant understand what they saying wether it be mongolian, latin or arabic.
maybe u should have just got a few of the guys at the office to speak gibberish into a mike and then used that for mongols. cause 99% of gamers sure wont be able to tell the difference between authentic mongolian and gibberish. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
