Good luck
(I hope your replay movie shows teh actual battle)

Thanks for the files Cham...horses1 seemed to show the opponent got desperate, and went for a mad dash after the Gen. Guess all those biting arrows do tend to drive one to madness http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
P.S. I kept screaming "use the trees man", and "pull in your arbs", but to no avail http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

A welcome addition to any serious playaz playbook library.
Vanya gives them 4 Starched Ramen Noodles out of a possible 5.
Vanya reassures the Great Khan, Khan of Khans, Khan of the Can-Can, Sumo Khan Laude of Khandahar University, that the 5-noodle rating is reserved strictly for outstanding replays in MPG format (ie, can be seen without using the game). Vanya sez... that is the Holy Grail of replay files.

The second battle really showed how powerful Boyars are... The loss was because of the player's deviding his forces too much and got ganged up on, and took his general to that fight.
But I saw a unit of Boyars take on two Turcomans and force a retreat of them both with arrows alone, left were 21 Boyars (29 when the first Turcoman routed) and two units of about 12 Turcomans. I was deeply impressed.
The first battle was really great. A textbook example of how to kill a normal force. I actually thought that he would kill you off with those arbs after the first couple of skirmishes where the Horse Archers had taken heavy losses.

well it was my enemy using the Boyars, i actually cant remember the battle fully but Boyars face u with a dillema. when u gonna use tthem as combatcav when u have still ammo left? So far i have seen just a few who make good choices about this.

I am also interested in the real names behind these undercover names... obvious they know how to move a unit. One of those actually knew how many kids i got.

well the changes that our Khan win with them are reduced a lot. our Khan was able to beat most veteran in STW on regular basis with similar armies but in TWM is almost impossible to beat someone like Poalai with it.
Well Magy I know very well it was you whu was the Turks, I noticed the names. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
But I was just impressed with the Boyars ability in ranged combat. What I feel about them is to not use them as true Horse Archers but rather linearchers until the enemy is closing in, then treat them as heavy cav.
You obviously won due to better management of the troops, my hat off to that.

problem with using Boyars as archers in teh first stage of battle is that every boyar soldier u lose, u cant use in melee

i wonder who Dustin and ThePlague are, they certainly arent complete noobs....
They certainly aren't.
Of course one would not put the Boyars into direct harm, but we can't always control that. So I think it is better that they can actually outfight other mounted bowmen rather than just stand there and take it (as they can't catch them).

Ah Boyars http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif What a nice unit. I was very pleasantly surprised at their strength when I used them. On the down side the Russian infantry units are pretty slack by comparison.....but I can live with that http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Boyars are awesome, but too expensive in my mind. If I try to use boyars I end up investing too much money in them. I'd rather play with a unit of horse archers and a unit of alan cav, than 2 units of boyars. The savings are incredible.

Very nice Magyar. I like your style of play. Not many can do it that way.
i'd hate to be the guy constantly surrounded and pelted by arrows. No wonder he eventually charged you with his entire army http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

still i wonder who changed my avatar before
Konnichiwa,
I edited badges, custom titles, memberlevels etc yesterday.
There's a clanleader avatar, but those that reached the 500 postcount can select an avatar from the list if they see something better. The clanleader avatar is not included in the list. Magyars avatar changed because his account was changed to ClanLeader.
Do you want this title or the clan name Lone Wolf?
I'm sure I missed some clanleaders, but I simply don't know which clan is active nor who's clanleader.

Hi yes im a totaly newbie
how do i get the replays to work ?
i download them and put them in the
C:\Program Files\Total War\Medieval - Total War\SaveGames\Battles
folder. i load up mtw and go to replays the horse archer replays are listed but when i load them up the battle doent work
what happens is i see the armies on the field and they dont move. but then one unit will disapear and reapear in a new postion. this happens to most of the units. its like the battle is running but im experiencing massive lag or something.
have i put the battles in the wrong folder or something ??

Beautiful
I liked the film soo much I had to go out and do it myself.
It does take patience but its worth it...if only to see the enemy make a bone-head charge out of sheer exasperation.
Now if I could only do it as well as Magyar...
http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Nice replays. Thanks for posting them. The first one in particular is a perfect exposition of historical horse archer tactics. Given the good number of heavy cav providing backup, the army had a very Mongol look.

well its an army not suited for competitive games. for fun it will do.

Good replays, thanks Khan. In the first one it is frustrating to watch the pavise get destroyed. I would have setup a pavise parimeter on top of that first hill and i wouldnt move an inch.
You can't chase horsearchers with pavise No offense meant to the player.
