As we all know, the player cannot see an enemy assasin. So when he has stationed a strat. agent in a foreign province, or one of his own without assasin/spy defences, he relies in his agent luck and valour to avoid being killed. But when it comes to AI strat.agents, they have a big advantage. Even if an enemy bishop has stayed in a province of mine for ages, when I relocate an assasin there, he will leave. It is unfair.

The devs have posted on this a hundred times. The AI doesn't know, it shuffles around the troops and agents. If you reload the game the year before you will mostlikely see him go to another province or stay. It is the same as teh AI shuffles troops into a province you attack, try again and it most likely won't (that is the only time I can accept reloading the year before, it is more fun to fight rather than pull back).

So, what is it when a str unit stay in a province for lets say 20ys. Then I target him with my assasin. Next round the unit is in a nearby enemy province with border forts. This happens all the time

It is a random event, even though it may not seem to be. Try clicking on that enemy agent and see if he is on a specific assignment, offering an alliance to a certain factions king or just spying. If you have foreknowledge of where he's trying to go, you may be able to ambush him. Try using several assassins in provinces bordering your target to attack him. He just may move right into the path of one of your assassins.

Yep, you have to be careful not to let your assasins go too far away. Don't send an Assasin onto a target if he is not in the province. If you are more fearful, then don't attack agents in provinces with ports or borders to Border Forts.

I accept that the devs have indicated that the ai doesn't cheat by knowing when you have intiated an attack and then countering by moving armies into the provence so u are outnumbered when your attacking forces arrive ...strat agents moving when u target them.etc...

but...

god it happens a awful lot. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

maybe the ai just has really keen sence of smell , my troops and assasians tend to a dirty lot. some say you can smell them miles away http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif

is there a maximum valor for assasins? my 5-star doesn't seem to go up at all, even after knocking off a level 0 king.
