Interesting campaign I've had so far with the English. Early on I managed to eliminate France. However, in an unusual turn of events on the Iberian peninsula, peace has flourished between the Spanish and Almohads. They've not fought a single battle between themselves. The Almohads have worn themselves out trying to take Portugal again and again, while early on I took Navarre and Aragon, so I think this weakened the Spanish attempts at expansion since they don't have the resources of those territories. It's just a big lovefest in Iberia.
Meanwhile, rather than beating up on the Byzantines, the Turks and Egyptians have been engaged in a particularly long and bloody war. At times each side has gotten the other down to one or two provinces, but then overextended themselves such that the other has made a comeback. Right now the Turks have the upper hand after I had given up on them, but it is unusual to see a war between these two so early on.
Not under pressure, the Byzants are living in peace, rather than running north to Russia to expand as they normally do. The HRE is also generally living in peace, though for once they attacked early and took out Denmark. And in a very weird occurance, the Scilians are no more within the first dozen or so turns of the game. There was a rebellion in Malta, killing the king, then another in Sicily, finally eliminating them as a faction - most unusual to say the least - I have no idea what tiggered those rebellions, but the Sicilians are no more.
All in all, a most unusual game so far . . .
