Haba Haba rah rah rah

Yes, absolutely we need another haba. Of course if haba fails....we could do a twa-haba, but I think its best served here.

well i wonder what the use of it will be for this year. this year is dominated by a downfall in MP players during MI, MTW multi competitions didnt start really, most played battles/wins and so on are not valid cuz of the massive drops and lock ups, the recording in teh databases are not correct and i dont wanna vote for a best player since i have not seen him yet, perhaps teh next items will be more valid like:

- most constructive (org)poster
- most exploiting MP-player
- most cheering up org poster
- most yellow card receiver
- most community disturbing factor
- most fun role playing character
- most correct historical forum-input

and so on

How about the ugliest shade?

Seriously, my back hair has served as shelter for whole families before...

On a serious note, the awards would help serve as a galvanizing force for community consensus and a brief opportunity to celebrate the fact we have a community.

Somebody posted at TWA that it was the pulse of MP. I believe the community to be the pulse, with TWA becoming one of its vital organs *hoping anyway*. The haba awards could be a nice shot of sugar in the blood stream... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smokin.gif

TWA will gladly host a tourney or league to commemorate the event

My greetings to all

It is undeniable that despite the efforts of some important members of the community, mainly Koc for developing and testing new stats and ShadeHonestus for putting lots of energy into creating and maintaining Totalwarassembly (including the Clan-society), our always small and rather "personal" community is shaken very much in these days...

first: by the aftermath of the sad Tera-affair.
We all still suffer from that very much and a lot of
members seem to have either dissappeared or are
somewhat frustated or still can't overcome their
"personal" dislikings and antipathies of certain
well-known members or - most basic of all reasons -
simply stopped posting at the ORG or elsewhere and
as a result of this robbed us all of a vital input
needed badly by any healthy community.

second: by the unmistakenly SP-first and last attitude of
CA. Although it is of course only a question
of economic interest: When the overwhelming
amount of sales is made due to singleplayer
no one can expect any company to focus more
than necessary on a most basic level on
multiplayer-issues. From the perspective of
a MP-only freak like me, this is naturally very
unsatisfying and it might turn out to be
short-sighted as well. The constant
neglecting of MP may be a somewhat short-sighted
policy which actually hinders a future market to
florish and prosper. Is there anyone here who
denies that CA LOST many possible MP-hardcore fans
because of the horrible server and technical bugs
and isssues? And that is just one example...

third: by the impatience of us all. We expect things always
to develop in short time, be it a patch or anything
else. The computer-era with its rapid changes and
extreme pace seems to have created a rather unfocused
and unconcentrated and unloyal type of human-being.
Always on the move, never content waiting and
thinking and simply enjoying...no we want more, we
want it fast A brave new world it is with its
consuming force... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

fourth: by the simple fact that we all have a real life
as well. ( Don't we? Hehe) That often draws our
attention away from Totalwar...curse it

So what needs to be done if we truly want to keep up the remnants of our community which is in danger of disintegrating or even better if we want to rebuild it and make it stronger than it was of yore?

Unlike Magyar/Koc and others i am not of the opinion that the existent unbalances in online-play are the most important factors for the declining interest in the community. I am in no way denying that these balance-problems exist and are often a pain in the ass but from my point of view the personal attitude of the player towards the game and the community as a whole is by far more important.

So the Haba-awards which should be based on tournaments and new CLAN-CAMPAIGNS ( single campaigns can in no way compete with the great emotional impact of a huge clan-campaign organized by the community) may be a way to reunite the shattered and fallen apart community once again. In these tournaments and in the campaign we could use the new stats and/or agree upon certain rules...

What about a general council of the still existent clans at the Clan-society?
Lets move

I nominate UglyElmo as the "best host."

Dear Jemasze your words, even not in your native language are again well chosen. it was one of your finest elite member who told me that there are many online "consumers" and just some "producers".
we see clans posting that they want to be a member of teh CS and many even did register (i cant look into teh TWA database but it looks succesfull) but somehow these things dont start. one of our Khans best inventions was his Questing Contest with teh use of the campaigntool. just an handfull played. this tool could even be used by anyone and anyone could create some campaign with it. in the oldest shog there was even a full map based automated turnbased campaignprogramm. noone used it.

so there are ideas about "moving on" but there is no real base to move on. this base should be an handshake between the games-potential and teh community.

perhaps all we can do is post our dislikings in teh games shortcommings, wait for teh game to improve, meanwhile play teh game online and other games.

i am not convinced teragate had such much to do with people stop playing, waiting for 2.5 montsh for a single patch which solves most bugs for SP did much more damage. much much more.

u think teh attitude is important... well thats true. If i remember my Khans statement well: "If teh online community is representing our civilization than mankind is doomed" or something similar.

We must accept that new stats wont work, a campaign wont work and tourneys as well.
what this game needs is a steady group of wargamers who approach this game as a wargame, wanting to be major involved in tourneys and campaigns. a part of the online community we have now doesnt want that, they just want some battles. doing some clicks with a mouse and have some easy wins. most of teh players will misuse every misbalance they found instead of trying to make it public and work to get it patched.
this game needs competition from other games.
this game (mp-part) needs the devs attention.

this highly potential game is like a brilliant soccerplayer without soccer shoes on a slippery pitch. its potential is not fully used. not by us and not by teh devs. and thats makes my Khan sad.
