Hi there,

Playing as Egyptians, Early, not too far into the game. Focusing cavalry production in one particular province, so I build Fort, Keep, Horse Farmer and Horse Breeder, OK so far. Next level is the Horse Breeder's Guild, and for that I need a castle, right? Wrong. On the buildings queue screen, right there available for me to build is a Horse Breeders Guild (the castle is there too of course). I have selected the HBG to build, so we'll see if it lets me complete it...
Has anyone else noticed this? (or have I just done the 'doh' thing and posted something everyone already knows about...?)
I have a screen shot and a save game at the point it becomes available (in Tripoli I think it was) if the devs are interested.

Horse Breeders are free of any other buildings besides the 20% upgrade. Just like the farmupgrades and mines.

Yes the Horse Breeder is free of building requirements, but the Horse Breeder's GUILD is listed as being dependant on having the CASTLE - so if I haven't got a castle, I shouldn't have the option to build the guild.

This is a bug I think. Anyone else?

What I meant was that all Horse buildings are free... if it is a bug or not, I don't know.

Ah I see what you mean. I'd never noticed it before, and even in my current game I didn't notice if the 2nd level horse building was available before the Keep - I just assumed there was a dependancy on the level of castle.
OK, so I'm happy with that, but I'm sure there's no mention of this anywhere. And if horse buildings aren't dependant on castle levels, they SHOULD be

Well, the mounted units you can build are still based on the castles, other buildings and the game year regardless of the actual horse breeding upgrades, right? The description does say that all cav benefit (speed I guess) without saying exactly how. I would like to know what they provide.

Yes, the only direct benefit you can get from this is a fast route to Master Horse Breeder and thus +1 Valour to mounted units.
