View Full Version : Weird danish bug
In my current campain (spanish GA, early, normal)the Danes are shown as rebels on strat. map. The stack and the castle are indicated as rebel only the kings unit inside the stack has the right colors. The faction also appears in diplomatic section. I can propose an alliance but I dont get any response. Any idea?

Could this be a civil war going on between the Danes themselve? Check the rebel army and see if theres any comment in red at the bottom of the army description. The king could be under seige by the usurper at the moment so thats why the Danes are still appearing in the diplomatic section since he is still alive.
Its no civil war (its the same status for 100 years and no red message). The king is also in the same stack which is indicated as rebel. When I put an emissary on this stack I get sometimes propose alliance and sometimes bribe the army option.

What version is this, pre/post patched? Did u run ur prepatched saved game on the new version? Maybe the more experienced guys can help u up on this.
Its post patch and also post patch started. Maybe someone want to have a savegame?
The Danes in SP behaves a bit strangely. They invades neighboring provinces only to get these provinces rebel and they went back to Denmark nursing their wounds. I don't mind that, but when I play Poland, the Dane creates about 1000 rebels with good technology on a neighbor province to mine. I was busy conquering my East only to see the rebel move to Poland. I had my garrison enough to hold off the original rebel (about 200 of them) but not the 1000 the Danes helped created. I am not afraid of Germany and Hungary, I gave away my daughters and they are at war with their respective neighbors. Well, perhaps Poles shouldn't be as aggressive as I was.
Plus, I never see these Danes hold more than 1 province. Denmark were all they get.

I suppose you were playing early?they tend to act like vikings and raid, pillage, loot and kill while making provinces rebel, much like the vikings did in the dark ages...
I played in both early and high period.
It is fine with those pillage stuff, but what I am tic-off is the fact the rebel assembled to fight off the Danes became a force that brought down Poland. I'll have to replay Poland another time and this time, I'll pay close attention to the Danes and the Teutonic Rebels in the North.

Seen the Danes get a few countrys before... never seen them do anything "big" though. Since the patch the smaller countrys do seem to struggle with rebels, esp around Russia. As for the Danes.. The Aragonese seem better at expanding. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif

I've seen this a lot with Novgorod. Often as not, the rebels strike back. More than once in my current game, the rebels had the entire Novgorod army besieged. They would have been hooped had I not intervened. Both Denmark and Novgorod are in real financial straights at the start of the game. They almost never build units, and buildings only rarely.
I have experienced the most strange campaign yet.
Within 30 years the rebels killed the Danes, the Aragonese (ok I helped stirr them up), the HRE, the Polish, the Russians and the Turks. 6 factions killed by rebels within 30 years. Too bad I had already killed the French and Spanish. It was no fun to expand all the way to Livonia from Champagne in as many years as it takes to march there.
